We are a community, hell, more like a group of friends.

When I first got into the forums, I started out at a Maxima forum that is/was notorious for flaming. I posted up some really stupid questions. I was flamed, a lot. Instead of learning from my flaming, I was angry. More than being angry, my feelings were hurt. I felt that I had asked a legitimate question, and got some really, really nasty replies. I just didn't know any better.

Instead of changing myself to adapt to their clique, I continued to be me. That was about as good for that forum, as a Mormon giving Sunday service at the Vatican.

I started to post in their "General Chat" section. Immediately I was asked for n00dz of sister/wife/mom, etc. I posted up some n00dz of an ex girlfriend. That got me no where. I then posted up some n00dz (high quality) that I got from the net. That got me even less. The flaming commenced, and after 3 or 4 pages of having my arse handed to me, I posted up a pic of goatse and one of tubgirl. That got me banned for 90 days.

Now I just scalp info from there when I need an answer that I don't know.

I did find NICOclub. I was immediately welcomed and no one really has ever flamed me. This site is great, and I found myself contributing more and more. It turned out to be my home away from home. I have made a lot of friends here. Most days I can't wait to get online. Lately, I have been saddened a little because of the consistent flaming that happens in here. I am not saying I am innocent. I have been in the wrong, and shoveled out my fair share of crap also.

However, you have to remember that Richie is a young kid. He probably doesn't know a lot about cars. But the only way for him to learn is for us to teach him. I know that he posts up some "rice" stuff, but hell, when I was 17, if I had a car, and had seen "The Fast and the Furious", I would have probably wanted a vacuum gauge as well. It may be impractical, but it "looks" cool.

I would really like to see everyone stop flaming Richie. Maybe if we try, and I mean really try, to be more helpful, and take him under our wing, he may become a great member.

Now Richie, I have gone to bat for you. I hope you will continue to post, BUT, you need to do a few things. First off, install the Google Toolbar. It has a great spell check on it. Proofread what you are going to post. It only takes a few seconds, and if we understand the statement you're making, and it's not typed out like a toddler on speed, you will gain respect. Second, really think about the threads you start. The thread calling out Greg's buddy for not posting up pics, and the thread about black guys and sports cars are absolutely uncalled for.

and they call me a post whore by the way i'm Richie lol. thx bean's by the way i don't wanna sound like a d!ck but i do know alot about cars mostly imports, and mostly the 03-05 non rev up z. i understand i am a young kid and i understand because im young i will get 0 respect to begin with. i joined my local car club LITUNERS and went to a meet they mostly drove sti's and they all had about 10 years on me. only one guy came over to talk to the kid that rolled up in the z and he told me they hate the z but he loved it. he drove a altima with the old 350z rims painted black looks good. I felt truly unwecomed so me and my friend left and did a lil spirited driving. It kind of pissed me off.

I know what you mean Bean, but is it only me that noticed the decline of our 350Z section since Richie joined. I really don't like flamming, but I do it out of frustration since I like NICO. He is only 17 and acts like he is all tough and all wise. He keeps trashing legitimate threads with STUPID questions. Honestly since you mods have failed in controlling this guy I have really been staying off NICO. I miss the old days where I can log on and see real questions or real problems getting solved.

Seriously in my opinion Richie has used up all of our patience. If you agree copy this and paste.

If you mods are mad at me for not liking the job you have been doing, you can ban me-that will save me from Richie, since you basically let him do whatever he wants.

+1 Bean! I lurked here for quite sometime before deciding it was time to try and get to know you guys. I know I really haven't, yet. But the little speaking with the fellow members that I actually have done, I've felt more than welcome! It's greatly appreciated. And thanks for realizing that some of us who love our Z's more than our first born children, may not know much about cars. I know I don't, and I'm not afraid to admit it, especially to the folks here. It seems to me that most here will be patient and point me in the right direction. With the exception of soup, he'll point me to kalecoauto.com

I guess my point is, you guys are cool, and it'd be a shame to lose a member of the Z community because we weren't able to just shake our heads and explain things. I would go to a mustang forum if I wanted that. Plus who knows, maybe Richie'll notice something others have overlooked, or find some real good information the rest of us may not have known. Like why the heck there isn't a hatch button in a sensible place.

Sorry for the book.

I agree with this statement - as an outsider to the Z forum (but an insider to NICO as a whole), I've noticed that a lot of posts that just simply are wasted replies or simple non-sense that could go without being said. Grammer and spelling are one thing, senseless posting is another. I popped over to the Z forum recently because I've always loved the Z and almost bought one, and using the knowledge I've gained from that experience I want to help people out too.

I've come to expect that everytime I open up a thread to see a reply from him, and generally none that I have seen have been constructive. I've replied to some, trying to make corrections, but "how much do those cost" questions in every thread, regardless of what the item is, is somewhat useless...
R350Zz33 wrote:when i did have legit post and ask questions i was flamed anyway or no one answered so yea
I also agree that once in a while you do have a legit question and someone usually answers it wholeheartedly, but your reputation (or what I have gathered from seeing the replies to your posts) has caused the flaming back.

Just because you are young does not mean that you get 0 respect - we have a lot of young guys over in the Altima section and a lot of them post things that are truely useful or have questions on things that they are actually doing to their cars - asking how much bean's tires cost (or anyone else's for that matter) or how much plenum spacers cost/do they work with my 08 or any other irrelevant question to every thread is bound to get you nowhere. If you are buying new tires, create a new thread and ask for input as to new tires - don't just threadjack. We have 17 year olds that post up how-to's, questions about what maintenence needs to be done, etc - problems that they are interested in tackling, not just asking for the fun of it.

I hope that this issue can be resolved, for the sake of the forums and all it's members.

yes its true that you have more younger people in the altima forums because its a car that a younger person can afford not to many younger 17 year olds can buy a 350z i know there are only 3 or 4 of us on here and because im out of my age bracket here with an older crowd right off the bat i do get less respect.

oh and the hatch button is not located in a sensible location because its a sports car its not ment to be sensible

Just because its a sports car doesn't mean it doesn't have to sensible...another great example of a no-thought answer that gets you flamed on.

Age bracket or not its your posts that reflect who you are and the respect that you are going to get. There have been plenty of 40+ morons that come around and get flamed to you know...

I know what you mean beans, but I find myself not responding to most of the threads cause Richie has posted a dumb response and is getting flamed on. A lot of threads go unanswered for a while or go off topic because of dumb responses and flaming.

I just ignore most threads where Richie has posted, unfortunately that's a whole lot of em. I find myself on my350z.com more and more often.

Richie, it's nothing personal, but please think of some of things you post, and really reflect on whether you should post that. As for getting flamed on for spelling, it's not the spelling, it's your reputation that get's you flamed on.

I say we mark this as a new beginning. How about it?

Richie isn't the sole problem of the "decline" that you speak of. If a "stupid" question is asked, and everyone ignores it, then it's not a big deal. When the "decline" comes into play is when you start to flame the guy, and a simple question that could easily have been answered, is turned into a two page flame fest, that is what I see as a decline.

If you're such an elitist that we can't have any discussion, question or thread that isn't strictly about the 350z, then this is the wrong forum for you. Lighten up a little.
bmike818 wrote:He is only 17 and acts like he is all tough and all wise
That's what you do when you're 17.
bmike818 wrote:He keeps trashing legitimate threads with STUPID questions
Like I had said, what you think is a stupid question, may very well be a legitamate question to someone else.
bmike818 wrote:Honestly since you mods have failed in controlling this guy I have really been staying off NICO
It's too bad you feel that way. It's not like he's the only problem here. You flaming him is more of a distracting factor.
bmike818 wrote:I miss the old days where I can log on and see real questions or real problems getting solved
Then don't click on any thread that seems off topic.
albert wrote:I just ignore most threads where Richie has posted, unfortunately that's a whole lot of em. I find myself on my350z.com more and more often
It's too bad you ignore the threads. I look at all of them. Make a judgement off what is posted, and not the author.

my350z.com.... Like they're not having a daily lambasting over there.
albert wrote:I say we mark this as a new beginning. How about it?
That sounds great. It's actually the best suggestion in this thread.

I think that some people have formed a prejudice that they will never get over. I think that if Richie was to become an ASE certified mechanic, they would still give him crap. I hope that maybe we can give this kid one last opportunity for a fresh start.

If things don't change, then I will deal with that at a later date. I would like to give the opportunity for change.

If my spelling is screwed up, sorry. Computer at work. Can't install anything without a password that I don't have, and the IT dept sucks.

Wow, i just had one of those future foreshaowing hallucinations for a second.

Under R350z33 read the faint light gray words of. "Administrator."

wtfux.?I think it drew up from the story of bean's notriously constant flame story coming back from way back when.

Interestingly enough sometimes when that happens it usually comes true. And if it does boy, will I look back an laugh.

Richie,

I haven't had the "pleasure" of witnessing all of the antics that are described here, but I have heard of you. Does that say anything to you?

Do you realize that we have staff your age? I joined when I was 18. I roamed around reading and asking questions. Now I have a pretty good general knowledge about our cars, how they work, and how to fix problems that arise.

I hope you'll take this opportunity to turn things around. I was always respected by adults from a very young age, but that was because I came across as respectful, polite, and mature. Many of the adults forgot my age because of the manner in which I portrayed myself. You can do the same.

All it takes are a few well thought out, positive posts and people will start to see.

Hell, Noah likes me now. He used to think up ways to kill me everyday when I pissed off him and the other G mods

Anyways, the point is that you hold the keys to how people perceive you.

Hey, I've been lurking around here too. The only reason i go on forums such as NICO is for the immense wealth of information available(and the great bench racing debates). i never understood the obsession with the # of posts that people have. I believe in what someone says rather than what they have next to they're name. there are legitimate questions that need and are answered and there are times when things become more of a chatroom. both are fine in my opinion, but try not to kill a good thread with insults and ignorant comments. save it for youtube.
