Well, a thought came across me today about swapping my motor out of my 240. But the majority of 240 engine swaps I have seen have revolved around certain engines (i.e. the ones in the subject). I also wondered what other engines people may have put, or tried to put, in their 240s. I have considered pulling my resources and try for a 2.0 L ecotec turbo out of a solstice/sky. Of course it would be a fantastic project, chock full of custom fabrication and a hell of an electrical setup...but: Has anyone ever tried it? Don't know.

Has anyone ever tried to swap an engine different of the typical swaps we see today?

I've seen the LS1 (obviously), 350 Chevy (carb), 302 ford (with a foxbody front mind you ), all I can really think of off hand, just the domestic swaps. I've seen an SR in an AE86... so maybe the other way around? haha, j/k not enough torque to swiftly move a 240, without extensive work of course), thats all I can think of

don't rule out any VQ's. I would like a VQ56DE-R in my 240 in the distant future.

hmmmm ecotec? I mean it's different but come on, after all the custom work and money-it's still a 2.0L 4 banger...if you are gonna go for something out of the ordinary then go a little more outside the box like the rotary or the dohc v8 I would LOVE to do the JDM 20B rotary engine that came in the last gen RX-7's. Twin turbo 2.0L rotary, they are not very cheap though being the "rb26" of the mazda world.

there's a fine line between different and pointless...the latter of which results to a lot of wasted money IMHO.

could go uber rice and find an h22 or a b18... but... like said, its all pretty much just another 4 banger. x2 for the rotary idea

If you want Rotary, RENESIS is the only way. 370 wHP with a single large turbo! Better if you can setup sequential twin turbo.

actually, the 20bs came in the eunos cosmo and the 757 LeMans Car, but it has been swapped into both 2nd and 3rd gen Rx7s....you're right about it being mazdas rb26 though. i just wonder what they were thinking when they stuck it in a luxury car...

Let's say you end up spending $10k on a basic ECO whatever swap and I spend $10k on my SR. Sure you'll be different, but you're still getting left waaay behind. I'm not a fan of LS1 swaps, but atleast in the end you end up with some crazy amount of power and torque.

how about a LBZ? 6.6L, 6speed, turbo, 16.8:1 cr, 650lb ft of torque at 1500rpm. You might run into some fitment issues but at least you would be "different".

Definitely the Buick 3.8 turbo. I can't even tell you how sick that engine is, you must go find out for yourself.

here's the link.http://www.nismo.co.jp/shop/shop/omori/engine.html

this guy at a bar told me about this and i thought he was bull****ting me. but basically you're gonna have to have lots of $$$, you're gonna have to go to japan and figure out how to get it shipped back here, and i'd assume you're gonna need to know japanese or have an interpretor

and from the looks of the pictures, you're going to have to buy a rb26 front clip so they can take it out and do all the work...

this is the sr prototype engine in a d1 s15http://www.turbomagazine.com/f....html
