My mod prices are directly related to performance. 1 piece forged rims are far more valueable (in my mind) than 3 piece, super heavy rims. I'd really love some 18x9 18x10 AME Shallen CX rims, they retail for around $700/each. 20s would be nice too, but completely defeats the purpose of having a SPORTS coupe.

I can get a factory 3 stage with mirror finish for 2k. 3k is just for kicks. 5k-10k better bring in some amazing paint.
No, your Mod prices are related to your paradigm... Obviously you and this gentleman are coming from two different paradigms... Obviously this guys has a completely different value system than almost everyone on this forum... factory 3 stage for 2K...lol... yeah, at the local chop shop... i've seen $300 paint jobs and I've seen $20,000 paint jobs! You guys are killing me

I agree with EOrdonez3229, you guys are trying to justify "IN YOUR MINDS" why and how, and what if, and price vs performance and you're missing the big picture... people with money to burn, I mean real money to burn don't care about stuff like that... some guys have quarter million dollar boats, other guys have ownerships in private Jets, and some guys drop 80K on a G35 just for the hell of it...

Sticker shock doesn't exist for some people... but, from reading these posts, it obviously exists for others

I really hope you aren't talking about Blake's project...Blake's project has suffered from backordered turbos from Turbonetics (out of the control of the custom shop) and then Turbo Tim losing his Mother to cancer during the project (both unfortunate and out of his control) and you've lost respect for them.... seriously dude ?

Both out of control from the shop and I's perspective. Not much you can do from a phone calls stand point

You said it in your own post, a million in SAVINGS. Savings are meant for retirement and vacations, not for modding cars. The guy who spends $80k on mods, has much more than a million in savings, and at least hundreds of thousands in checking. Heck, almost everyone of us will have a million dollar savings acct when we retire, if we take care of our IRA and 401k accounts properly.
notaverage - I'm just saying that $80,000 is not that much money for many people - at least in my life and family experience it is not. ::shrug::

Not enough time to respond to it all.

There is turboed G that had his ride towed across country to a CA shop and the shop couldn't get a specific pipe from the turbo manufacturer (one that could have easily been, and was, fabricated by the shop). He waited an extra 2 months for his car and had to leave it in CA and go back home.

As for Blake's Alti, I still don't understand how these shops can do any type of install without having everything. When I take my car to a body shop, the dealership, or anywhere else that touches it. They MUST have everything in stock prior to me bringing my car there. If I'm replacing the bumper, I have them prep, spray and finish it before I bring the car back.

You're right Doc, we all have different paradigms. I do however know quite a few "rich" people who stay rich by being careful with their money.

Keep us posted!!!

First off, this a PROTOTYPE turbo system. You know, one they build from scratch, to be able to manufacture the kit. Tim and I went through all the past Altima turbo systems, and NOT ONE piece off any other altima system, fit onto this car. All the piping had to the measured, bent, re bent, yada yada, until he got the kit the perfect. He built 4 complete kits, of the piping, before he was satisfied with the outcome. Tim does his stuff right.

Second, Tim being the owner of the shop, he didn't want anyone else building this kit, but him. There is to much to go wrong, building a mold, for all the rest of the turbo systems. So he took on the project, alone, to make sure perfection was accomplished. With the death of his mother, that set us back a few weeks. He had to handle everything for that, no other family. To me that is completely understandable.

Third, welcome to the car world. Things take a while to build. We had to work with a dozen other companies to get this kit completed. Turbonetics, Split Second, Autometer, Synapse, Spearco, Bosch, Tial, etc.... The list goes on and on. For most of these companies, with the way the auto industry is going right now, they have extras of things lying around. They do what is called, build to order. When you order something, then they start gathering the parts they need to build you a product you want. Turbonetics doesn't machine everything in house. They have to wait on a half a dozen or so companies to build them the parts THEY need, to build the turbo. See where Im getting at here? It is a huge cluster of getting everything together to make everything work. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, that you don't know about.

Not everyone is broke
Not having $80k to drop on mods for a car, doesn't make someone broke.

Last time I checked $80k was more than the annual salary for a median household in America, Canada, the UK, etc... And an average household cannot afford to drop $80k in car mods. And if that makes them broke, then by your thinking, 90% of America is poor, not 12.6% as reported by the US census Bureau.

I think if you can afford to drop even one thousand dollars on your car, then you are not broke. Broke means that you can barely afford the essential things to live comfortably, and don't spend any money on small luxuries (like eating out, going on vacation, etc...)

This conversation is crazy... people trying to justify why other people spend money how they see fit...

some people make a lot, and save a lot, some people make a lot, and spend a lot..

There is a difference between being Rich, wealthy, and living high... If you make $300,000 / year, and spend 280,000, you are by far not rich or wealthy...

I don't think the owner of this vehicle fits into this category... SYNDICATE does cars for people like Shawn Merriman, Cameron Diaz, etc... there's plenty of people out there that can afford to blow 100- 200K a year on stupid stuff, and still have money left over to burn... that doesn't mean they are not acquiring weath, it just means that 100K to them is like 1K to you, just like some of you guys blew 1-2K on your cars for aftermarket parts and still have money left over, so too can someone with an income 50 X yours can spend 100K and not blink... that money could have come out of this dudes CHECKING account, who knows..

the point is this, just sit back and enjoy the pics when I finally get over there to take em, and stop trying to justify how you would spend 80K if you had it to burn people...

From my personal experience with some high end cars with fully tricked out details, $80k is something thats a truly custom ride and its gotta be super sweet just the way he wanted it.

On the other hand, truly handmade top of the line custom work isnt cheap and its not about the price. Its about the work, the final product, done on time with no issues at all.

Specifically on wheels, with a G you can put super deep dish wheels on them and ive seen wheels run $3-5k per wheel.

A custom paint job can cost $20k, a friend of mine just paid $8500 at a "friend price" to get his car painted this weird candy blue.

The bottom line is that when Doc gets him on nico, you will see a list of the mods, and it will probably be 40 lines long, many without a manufacturer name because its CUSTOM!

My point was that just because you dont have that kind of money to blow, doesn't mean your not well off or broke
