I bought a '93 auto TT in bad shape as a parts car for my 5 speed 2+2. I'm planning on rebuilding the TT engine and swap it into it. It has a Z1 ecu in it, can I use this ECU in my 2+2 if I buy a new EPROM chip? Can I use the engine harness out of the TT, just plug and play? The parts car is complete, so I should have everything to make a pretty easy swap. Any advice other than than the Z1 guide and other threads?

Since you are going to use the 5 speed, I am assuming its a NA, strong enough, but you will need a stronger clutch. Ort you can get a TT flywheel and TT clutch, get a shim for the starter and grind out the inside of the bellhousing.

Your Z1 ecu should work without a new eprom. But have it in mind if it doesn't work, only thing that would cause issues is the different year chassis.

Swap out the fuel pump, fuel pump controller from the TT.

Don't forget the remove the auto spacer from the crank and replace it with a bushing from a speed. Yes you can use the TT harness, but make sure the plugs are not trash.

So the fact that its an auto doesn't change the ecu settings? As far as the harness, once the ecu is switched over, is it just plug and play?

Yep, its really that easy. If you swapping a 5 speed in a Auto car, there is more work. But since the car is already a 5 speed, its an easy process.

Again, you may have issues because the chassis is a different year, but that is it.

Thanks guys. I'll come back with more questions possibly as the process starts this weekend.

Just read this post, looks like you are set...good luck and have fun!
Do keep in mind the chassis difference with the 2+2 as far as many parts go, body and chassis components are the major concern but the 2+2 does pop up in odd places so be sure to keep that info in conversations.
tt.net and other sources also have some decent swap info and guides so do check those out if nothing else than a view of it all in progress, and insights regarding small issues along the way.
