Are these made from CF or have you covered them with CF?

Every hose on the engine is brand new, lower intake manifold has been treated the same way the timing chain covers have been. I wanted to get the lower intake polished also but my polishing guy doesn't wanna deal with it + I don't wanna wait that long.

I do have a spare intake manifold I could use for polishing duty, but he doesn't want to do another one- its WAY too time consuming for him to make some proffit on doing these. I asked him many times and he said NO after doing just one for me.

Spark plug/coil covers are not real CF. I managed to score some faux carbon fiber overlay from Ebay. Simply cleaned the plastic covers up and spend a good time with the heat gun (high capacity, high temp hair dryer basically) trying to get them to look as real as possible. It would be REALLY hard to duplicate the OEM covers in real CF, so basically I used a sticker- that looks VERY real. 2 Years ago I saw the same sticker used on a Scion xB show car for a "CF hood" and it even fooled me almost, till I poped the hood and noticed it was just a steel hood with sticker over it. I've also gotten the middle cover that sits infront of the intake manifold- between the valve covers done the same way- its the one with the "Created by Nissan" sticker with all the specs on it. I should have more pics next week as I will have the engine runing.

I will try to take pics of the BBK Mustang Cobra headers I am modifying to run on a VH45 also. I found that the 4.6L DOHC V8 used in the Cobras will fit the VH45 with a few modifications, once I have everything done I will write up a detailed HOW TO on the headers. I'm going with BBK Xpipe for the Mustang also with their cats (mine are old and need to repleacement soon). For the catback I got a custom exhaust shop who specializes in doing work on lots of old muscle cars and import cars- its pretty much all they do for a living. I chose Magnaflow mufflers with the piping 2.25" from the cats to the rear muffler- where it merges in. It will mimick the stock exhaust of our cars but with higher flowing mufflers and lil bit more sound, I thought of doing 2.5" but I am thinking it might hurt low end too much and also make the car really loud.

Thanx for all the comments guys, and I am sorry bout the picture quality on the last few pictures, I took them with my camera phone as draggn my SLR Canon to work is too big of a hassle for me. Finished pictures will be in huge resolution for those wishing for a new wallpaper on their PC

There's always the option of powdercoating to get the look of polished alum... of course, it'd look even better if the part was polished before the pcoat was applied, but if the prob is that you can't have the part polished in the first place, then it's sorta a funny catch 22

As WES said, I am going very slow on my project as other expensses come up here and there associated with my living expensses etc.

I thought bout putting the headers on the car durring my engine build up, but I want to fire it up ASAP and get it runing- ETA of this week I am hopping.

I gave the flange blueprint to a friend who does CNC machine work to make me 2 flanges for the VH45DE. After that I am going to mess around with a welder and make the headers appropriate for the VH, I'm Cobra 32V headers BTW. I noticed that only one Q has headers on this forum, and they are not long tube headers eighter. I am trying to get long tubes for maximum power output, as I am REALLY thinking bout that blower now, and I want bout 500HP/TQ.

nice to see the intrest. but 700.00 sounds high. are these one off custom headers or are they cobra headers with custom flanges. if thats the case and these headers fit on our cars(meaning inside the engine bay with no other customizing) would we be able to just buy the flange patten? maybe im getting ahead. im itchin for that write up!!!! thanks

how does 700 sound HIGH????????????????? Compared to the 1200 youd spend on getting custom headers made this is a steal...

The mustang headers alone may cost around $300-$400, the flanges may cost around $100 to make a pair.....plus any custom modifications that may need to be made... PLUS having to have a custom downpipe made.

from my stand point its high cause i can make these myself. ive got a machine shop in my basement. ill take pics when i load the camera software on my new computer. meaning yes if someone else made all the mods for you 700 is very good. not arguing that at all. but is all thats being done here is cutting off the flanges and putting the custom ones on. if thats the case it will save me the headaches of making my own. ive all ready made my custom flanges for my turboed motor.

it won't be just cutting the flanges off the Cobra headers, it will also require bending of the header primaries to mate up with the VH ones. At the same time it will require removal of the stock manifolds and test fitting them quite a few times in order to get them to fit without hitting anything on the body. We got plenty of room on the drivers side of the engine bay- other than the steering shaft. But the pass side requires LOTS of work to JUST REMOVE the manifold, let alone just testing it.

BTW I love the way those Aussie manifolds look, I would deff keep them SSteel but our engine bay would be like a huge oven with them, so SWAIN coating them with the white lightning thermocating would be a must. Plus you want to keep as much of the heat in the exhaust as possible to aid in exhaust scavenging.

Don't think that one has been completed yet.

And Ashley's blown Q45 is not without its problems either.

Neither has any supercharged VH45DE proved viable in the US.

So, one has to ponder the meaning of "hottest."

But there is Axe's 450ZXTT, which I think they can install in a G50 for about $15K. Check the website.

I am still waiting for John Dixon's VH45DE build, as it should be very vaible once it is sorted.

As it stands I'm only waiting on the new crank pulley being manufactured and the flywheel spacer so the whole lot can be assembled are balanced. Next time I go to the engine shop I promise I'll take my camera! For info, I'm working on 41mmID, 990mm length 4-1 headers which will be tuned for 5000rpm on my motor (625cc cyl volume, EVO 69deg BTDC)Hasn't been a cheap exercise, but so much nicer than a FI build.
