Are you guys running lighter weight 'mileage' oils? That can make them eat somewhat more. And nobody in this thread mentions valve seals at all, which can be a huge source of oil loss when they get harder with age.
Not I. I go by spec in the manual and use no additives. It ranges from cheap conventional 10w-40 Mobil oil to synthetic 5w-30 Mobil 1.

As for the valve seals, it would suck if they were leaking even in brand new engines, as some people reported back in the day.
I have a damaged engine with 190k miles. I'll try to poke around the heads to see what those guides & seals look like.

Reportedly 138.5k, engine has now started knocking. These engines have a design flaw, I recommend folks avoid these engines.

2006 M45 sport 230k

Never has needed a single repair.

Uses 1/2 qt oil between oil changes which we do every 2500 miles.

2008 M45X with 185,000 kms. (approx 115,000 miles) on the odometer. Touch wood, but I have owned this car from new for 12 years with no engine performance issues and it really burns no oil between changes. I use synthetic oil, changed about every 10,000 kms. (6,000 miles). Not babied or coddled in terms of driving style, so maybe I have just been lucky!
