Ok so i was messing with this again today, was pushing around the little arms and stuff and watching things move to see how it all worked

i turned the car on again, and noticed this

id hit the button to make it go to only the face... silentbutton to make it go only to feet (which is currently the only vent open).. silent

but when i hit the button to make it go to both the face and the feet... i heard a little click, and nothing else after that

it wasnt loud, and nothing moved (not even a little), but just a tiny little click noise

could this mean anything, or help in any way to figure out what the problem is?

ok so i went back out to the garage 5 minutes after posting that, and noticed somthing else as well

when i hit the button to make it go to the windows (the one on the right, with the red light on the bottom instead of green), the door for the foot vent closes up, and when i click the thing to go to the foot again, it open back up

BUT, for some reason, it still wont open up the door for the vents that go to your upper body

so... i guess the motor still works (or part of it does?) and somthing else is the problem... anybody got anything?

who me? but yeah that is what happened to me, I think the electric motor got seized and needed a "jump start"

bump I'll talk to you on aim, it's much easier.

bump numero dos-

motor works so that is out of the question, it is definitely a CONNECTION issue I'd say...I would look for fried wires, circuits or fuses going to the motor and the buttons that DON'T work. Also a short circuit somewhere would pop fuses and mess things up.

maybe it's something simple as a piece of dirt or something just not allowing some of the doors to open/close

if I were in your position, I would just start taking the whole thing apart and dig deeper for some fried wires, etc...If you do decide to take it apart make sure you don't lose any screws and have a good idea of how it goes back together. You might not want to do this but, I'm just saying if it were me.

i doubt it, the motors gotta have enough torque to move past a piece of dirt

i would start taking it apart, but to play around with tht motor holy **** its the most uncomfortable position ever, plus its attached to so much stuff so id have to really know what im doing

what i dont get though... the motors not dead, because itl move the foot door, but it wont move the door for the duct that goes to the upper body

any other ideas on what the problem might be?

still wont move, or even make any noise when i hit the buttons to move the door for the duct that shoots air to the upper body....

SOOOO, i know the motors still working, but somthings wrong, and i have no idea what it might be

Check the connections to buttons, etc. Might a bad connection. OR, take apart the HVAC thingy, it worked for me for a lighting problem.

By connection to the buttons do you mean just the big plug that goes in, or do you mean actually taking apart the thing and looking at the button?

Try to folow the wires where they go, and check all the connections.

So are you saying the connection from the car plug to the unit, or connection inside the unit?

Seriously dude, why don't you just try a new A/C control unit. What exactly makes you so sure its the actuator anyway? Electronics will break before mechanized stuff will obviously...

a test light.. i could use a multimeter instead right? my dads got one i can borrow, so that should be fine

and idk if its the hvac control unit, and im not gonna waste money to buy a new one for no reason

maybe if i could find sombody nearby with an s14 and ask if i can plug theirs in or somthing... idk

theres a dude on a local forum selling his hvac controll box for $25, if thats my last resort, but i doubt thats the problem, and im gonna have a hard time selling it if its not the problem
