No racial profaneness here, just wanting to know because I looked it up on Wikipedia and it states that it was manufactured in Aguascalientes, Mexico, while the Tiida is in Japan.

I sort of wanted it to be from Japan...

So what is the main difference?Nissan is still Nissan... but... yeah

P.S. I already knew that they were mainly built in Mexico just didn't know that the parts were also made there...?At first I thought the parts were shipped from the rising sun, but... I guess not?

My 01 Sentra SE was built there too, and with 92k miles, I've only had one issue... a bad MAF sensor that tripped a check engine light. Otherwise it's been bulletproof and still drives like the day I got it.

We just bought an 08 Versa SL HB w/CVT and Sport Pkg. last week. My wife's lovin' it so far. Rides like a much larger car, and is really quiet compared to the Sentra.

I'd bet alot of the parts are sourced from all over, including Japan and the US. Nissan's plant outside here in Nashville in Smyrna, TN sources parts from all over, and Nissan also has a nearby engine/transmission plant in Decherd, TN.

Nissan/Renaut is truly a global company.

Yeah it is assembled in Mexico, but the parts come from several different places I'm sure.

I was seeing Versa's on my trip to Baja California Sur before they were released in the states so I would assume like the old Sentra platform they do exist and are manufactured in Mexico but under different names i.e. Sentra = Tsuru

But yeah I would assume its a move like VW pulled having the manufacturing plant in Mexico would prove a lot cheaper to sell to the entire North American continent.

Honestly I'd rather they are manufactured in Mexico and this might upset a lot of people but if a Nissan plant in Mexico can help bring more jobs to their economy, then it will also trickle down to the rest of the North American economies.which at this point need all the help they can get.

I saw two Versas at the October, 2006 Texas State Fair in Dallas, Texas that were assembled in either North or South Carolina. I forget which state were listed on the window sticker. They drew a lot of interest from fairgoers too. Maybe we can get some feed back from east coast drivers where their V came from.

We bought our V in late August, 2006 and picked it up from the dealer on Labor Day.

I don't think any Versas were ever assembled in the Carolina's, or any other US state for that matter. It may have been an error, or a deliberate attempt to mislead those who wouldn't like the idea of Nissan's made in Mexico.

The Wiki is missing Thailand... Here in Australia, the first series of Tiida was imported straight from Japan (my car is one of these) and then the second series was manufactured in Thailand. I think for the most part a lot of the parts are still Japanese in these vehicles just the cheaper labor factor of having a factory in Thailand is used to Nissan's advantage.....

There is a lot of politics & profits involved. Mexico is part of NAFTA (I am unsure if the Versa qualifies). As we know, many Japanese manufactures have plants in USA & Canada that may qualify in NAFTA.

To get costs down & maximize profit, they will manufacture where this can be done. In the late 80's & early 90's large trucks made by Ford, VW were exported from Brazil & some from France (Renault) to NA. Rebadged to whatever. Now many of them (Ford, Frieghtliner cab-overs for instance) are from Mexico too. While International closes down plants in the U.S. Then start looking the trade inequalities between NA & Asia...

I recently puchased a SUZUKI motorcycle oil filter for my GSXR & discovered they have them made in China!!!! Next filter will be an AMSOIL.

Don't get me started on textiles (Nike running shoes, etc.)!!!! Bastards...
