btw, i watched the video yesterday and slept better last night than i did the previous night
Yea the video doesn't mean much. Playing the game requires a more attention then a video so imagine staring at this while making a conscious effort to shoot things, aim bullets and dodge things. If played long enough you might go a little kouki.

This video covers the first stage of the game. You can see how simple it is.This is the instructions to the game:
POLYBIUS Instructions wrote:Use left/right/up/down to maneuver ship clockwise/counter and towards or away from the base. Use fire to destroy enemies. Occasionally, glowingshapes will launch from the base with a red number circling them. If thenumber matches either digit on the base number (on each arm of the base)or is evenly divisible within, shooting it will reduce the base number bythe polygon number. Getting the base number to zero advances to the next level. Intercepting the polygon will increase shields. Colliding with enemypawns, missiles, or mines reduces shields. Scoring is based on enemies killed, reducing base number, and level change. The largest score increases are withdivisible numbers, especially square roots. At higherlevels, the base shoots a paralysis beam which may briefly immobilize the player. This occurs when all arms of the base align.
And the link to DL the game:http://rapidshare.com/files/11....html

(after DLing it I AVG scanned it and nothing came up. If you DL it I would scan it again)

If you look closely, there are subliminal messages too:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM-VP1WDVxQLike "OBEY", "DON'T QUESTION AUTHORITY", "FALL ASLEEP", "FORGET" and many more messages. The more you play it the more you see and experience things.

Yes, we have an actual cabinet here. Like I said, I doubt it's the original...but still pretty cool. I haven't played it.

Wow. There are really rare there is only like 3 or 4 know to some people. If is not as much problem can you take some pics. I would appreciated

EDIT: According to the story, an unheard-of new arcade game appeared in several suburbs of Portland, Oregon in 1981, something of a rarity at the time. The game, Polybius, proved to be incredibly popular, to the point of addiction, and lines formed around the machines, quickly followed by clusters of visits from men in black. Rather than the usual marketing data collected by company visitors to arcade machines, they collected some unknown data, allegedly testing responses to the psychoactive machines.

No wonder there is a machine there. Awesome.

So, I played the game. I am still here. All I have to say is Tempest is better. Staring at the screen for 10 min. at a time did make me a bit woozy, but no ill effects. I am actually quite dissapointed. I had heard about this game so long ago and was hoping that it wasn't a hoax, that some of it was fact. I guess this was a case of don't meet your heros.

And you didn't try to kill yourself? Thats strange....

Wait until the subliminal messages kick in and you start subconsciously try killing things.

This game is like hypnosis, it only works if you are dumb enough to let it.

Well that blows. If that's what happens I'll never know if it was the game taking effect or just an average day.
