Lush, no apology totally agree there. I like your attitude straight and to the point. +5. Dont worry about Richie (R350Zz33) he gets a litttle excited when he sits in his car, you know like a little cayenne colored puppy when the pee on themselves from excitement, its harmless.

Lol. My JRT, Sparky, does the same thing. when I get home, he wiggles his booty like a worm, and pee's himself a bit, just spraying all over the floor.

oOo! What's your occupation at the dealership, if you don't mind me asking?
Don't worry my $hitty AT can shift faster than your 6 speed . That's why people are switching over to AT's. Granted it's less involved / fun than a standard, but you can go faster using a good AT/ CVT/ dual clutch....that's why F1 uses them sweetheart

Also, I don't work for the dealer. I just heard there was one at our Nissan and I hung out and talked to the salesmen for awhile.

Actually, F1 uses dry dual clutches on a 7 speed sequential gearbox (more like motorcycles). CVT cannot handle as much torque as MT or DCT, it was built more for comfort and economy. And the AT on a Z or a G does not nearly resemble that of an F1. Formula 1 does not allow fully automated transmission systems, and or launch control systems because they want the sport to have more emphasis on DRIVER SKILL.

The F1 gearbox does not have a clutch pedal for the driver to push, it is actuated by hydraulics. this means that while not a true automatic, it is also not a true manual gearbox as in a car. The clutch pedal is actuated by servos, thus it is more akin to an automatic than a manual.

You're right about CVT, I was citing shifting speeds but since it technically doesn't shift......egg on my face.

And while the AT on the G/Z does not resemble an F1 gear box, it is still fully capable to shift faster than most any person on this forum. Also, look at many of the higher performance car manufacturers, they all offer either a DCT, or the Sequential; Audi group, Ferrari / Maser....GTR...

I'm not saying its better or worse than a manual, I'm just saying you can have performance applications where an AT is just as good as a MT, so throwing out blanket statements such as AT's suck or you're an idiot for having an at in a sports car or something like that is false.

But yes OT, sorry rmezz....all in good fun!

your all good, i just prefer to start new topics in new threads. That way if someone does a search for something, the entire thread is related to that topic - thus pleasing the searcher and making a NICO member out of them. The more the merrier!

I agree that f1's don't have clutch pedals, however still houses a dual clutch system like the GTR. This eliminates shift shock by assigning odd gears to one clutch and even gears to the other clutch, giving it a smoother shift sequence and transferring almost all the power to the wheels.

I also agree that most modern a/t's shift a lot smoother than all m/t's. But to a lot of owners clutch pedal offers more control on the car (e.g. power shifting, feathering the clutch, so on...)

Sorry Ryan, just trying to make a point across. Perhaps another thread is necessary...Or yet again just bring up one of the old a/t vs. m/t threads and rename it a/t vs. m/t vs.cvt vs. dct vs. any other other you can think of....

So the manual is more expensive than the AT....interesting....by the way, My friend and I raced 1/8 of a mile (kinda ghey) at Qualcomm in San Diego (which is santioned by the SCCA). We both got z's. Mine is an 03 track and hers is an 04 enth A/T with basically the same mods and I got beat twice. I'm gonna try to look for the slips but I remember that it was by about half a car.

I still need to redeem myself in an autox event next month.
