Has anyone found any ways to smooth out the ka24de engine. My engine vibrates alot, which i assume is normal. The only idea I can come up with is a heavier vibration dampner. I heard that porshe uses dual vibration dampeners on there larger fours in the 944 and alike series. I know this will proboly cut down on some of the power, but whatever, I just want a more comfortable ride.

I've heard things about crank-shaft swaps with a naps-z for a fully counterweighted crank. Never researched it though. The engine just wasn't made to be rev-happy.

turbo eh? i think your on the wrong board :) . Im still trying to figure out scca rules before i put a turbo in and screw up my class. Anyway, my engine is tuned up and running fine. Just wish there was a way to make it smooth like my mothers camry engine.

what about those nismo motor mounts? Are they smoother or rougher than the stock ones? Maybe just new mounts (even stock ones) would smooth it out...

unless the stock mounts are shot. upgraded motor mounts just transfer more engine movement to chassis, the car will shake much more.

okay so new mounts (stock) could help some of us s13 users cause ours are so old... and there are magazine ads for motor mount bushings.

I'll have to agree about the smoothness of the camry engine but you have to realize that the camry also has a TON of extra dampening (sound and what-not) to make it a very quiet family car. My folks have 2 of them ('91 and '03) and i'll drive them every once in a while. Although they're really smooth driving, it really disturbs me since I always feel disconnected from the road. Although a stock KA is hardly a thoroughbred HP monster, it is still a truck engine and was never meant to be NVH friendly.
