smoking gear shift?!

Umm okay my girlfriend noticed this a few days ago and I'm confused.

Whenever my sunroof is open (haven't checked with the windows down yet) what looks like smoke or steam comes out right below my shift knob where the boot stops. There doesn't seem to be any power loss and shifting isn't any more difficult. Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? It has me rather concerned to say the least lol.

I've also noticed that this only happens on colder days.

Thats my thinking and when the sunroof is open it creats a vaccume sucking air from wherever possible (transmission hole). Guarantee it wont be there with the windows down

exactly what I thought because it doesn't smell like antifreeze and it only comes out when a vaccume is created so I'm going to take it and have it checked.
