My 96 240 just doesnt have any "snap" to it at low RPM. I ran it in the 1/8 mile for the first time this past week, launching it at 3,500....it just kinda bogged when I came off the line. Still got a 2.3 60ft. I havnt owned the car long, just getting used to it and doing some tuning. It has an Injen intake and Apexi N1 single, also removed the belt driven fan. The car runs well, just feels sluggish down low and it pops through the exhaust when I gear down. Just curious if any of this is normal or if it may be a small tuning issue.

How many miles on it? How good is the maintenence history (if you know it)?

Sounds like a small tuning issue, probably running a bit rich if you're getting afterfire. Also an exhaust with significantly larger piping will take a bit out of your low end.

Or perhaps this is all psychological since you used to have a GN;) I hear you there, my first car ('67 mustang) ran 12.2, second one ran 13.2 (WRX), now a 240 that might run 16.2 ( :( cry;) ). I miss going fast

only 96,000 miles. The car was very well maintained, it is Immaculate!! Just checked my timing, it was off a few degrees (retarded) that would explain the sluggish revs. Don't know if it corrected any of the popping yet. If not, it may be running rich. Yeah, this car is wayyyy slower than the GN and the 99 Mustang GT I had. It will be fast one day though!! :)

Hehe, I'm quite sure it is ;) Took the car for a spin after turning the timing up to 23 degrees, Big difference!! No more sluggish KA or popping. In fact, I got in yet another race with a new Civic SI, I wasted him from 65-110. I'm very pleased with the way the car feels now. Gonna take it to the strip again this week, my goal is a 9.50 in 1/8 with only bolt-ons. It will be done.......
