Hey guys. I've got a 90tt with manual trans and wanted to install a new radiator in it, so I picked a new one up at autozone. After taking the old rad out of car, I opened the box to the new one and noticed it had auto trans cooler fittings on it. I wasn't too concerned about it and assumed I had a 'universal' type rad or something, so I continued on and went to transfer shroud over. When I went to do that I realized it doesn't fit right. After measuring new against old, I found out the new rad isn't quite as tall in the area where the shroud fits up, so bolting the shroud to the rad isn't possible without some modification.

I checked Autozone's site and they don't specify whether this rad is for an auto or stick tt. Would anyone know if auto trans radiators differ in this respect?

They dont, it should fit. Problem with Vatozone, oreillys, and advanced auto is the replacement parts are not always oem spec. They are usually a cheap knock off from china or third world country.

If you needed a new radiator, upgrading to a aluminum one may have been a little more expensive but great for the cooling system. Personally I would take it back, get your money back and get a better quality radiator.

Lok on Conceptzperformance, z1motorsports, etc. Do not get one off ebay, they will break or leak after a year or sooner. Mishimoto has a lifetime warranty. Not that means it is better, but if you plan on keeping your car for a long period of time, this is a good option.

Thanks for the reply.. I had a feeling that could be the reason. Also, thanks for the heads up on the ebay ones. I did notice a few of those alum ones on there and they did look tempting for the price.
