You need a torque wrench that goes into inch lbs. 3/8 DriveSlideways^Jordan wrote:oh i also need a torqe wrench that can go all the way down to 1 FT LB for installing the cams, and i dont have one. And i cant find one anywhere so i guess thats whats holding me back.
Not really it was kinda simplesince i still had room in the engine bay to get in their and take the head off. just whenever i was taking the stock Head bolts out it was kind of a bit*h on my back but then i climb in their and got the job done. lol oh yeah the only hard part was trying to hold the head and get out of the engine bay at the same time. So i had to hand it to my friend then get out of the engine bay, then put it on a piece of wood on top of 2 cinder blocks lol.idahotuner wrote:wow really clean. the cylinders and all. `` was taking it off a bit*H with it in the car. i wouldnt want ot do it like that.
but yea . i also pulled my head by my self lol. so having some one help would make it all right i guess
oh ok i see what your saying i use gift cards from wallmart lol but should i really use 180 grit or a fine grit. Ok on page 3 when it shows your head all really super clean is that after it was cleaned and when you sanded it with 180 and you did that the same way to the block?idahotuner wrote:yea use a credit card. and 180 grit. that is what i did. just be-careful around the holes. my head gasket stuck to my head when i took it off but when i have the head ran through a pressure washer it came off all nice.
in my build thread on page 3 i think. i have pics of the block when i first took the head off and then i have some of right be for i put it back on.
just dont push hard when you are sanding. pretty much just rest your hand on it.
the copper spray a gasket will fill in any imperfections. so yea that is where it comes into play
idahotuner wrote:i didnt sand my head. only my block. the head i had pressure tanked.
yes i have sortedmy rocker arms, shims. I marked everything and put them in baggies lableing what goes where exacly.
Now do i need to take my brand new Brian crower retainers and valve springs and old valve seal out for them to pressure tank and deck it, or can i leave it in their. Since i alrready installled those a long time ago in this build and the machine shop dont need to put any new valvetrain parts in.
This is what my head looks like nowremember to remove your rocker arm shims when you get it pressure tanks lol.
ok cool my last post got all combined with yours lol.idahotuner wrote:no you don't have to take the springs and valves out. they should be fine.
i just did everything at once. you might not even half to deck the head. mine was perfectly straight.
