So no one finds out about it, even though I've known about them for a while :) It's actually easier to go to Japan, hand pick your skyline and find a small, local, importing company, there's a list on DOT's website of registered importers. Hvae them do all the paperwork for shipping, taxes, EPA, etc... Then take it to motorex,

and that $25k is not including shipping and taxes, and ALL THE PAPERWORK!!! that's why you should have a RI do it,

Oh...and no one will do that to get a Skyline, atleast no one that doesn't already know. The only people that would take that course of action are lazy, that's why they drive civics and other cheap easy to modify cars. If they had the money they'll just go through MotoRex,

Actually, I honestly have been looking at skyline GTS-t's lately. I want to pay off some more on my current car, then sell it and get a GTS-t. And as far as looking up RI's and such....there is about 3 threads in the 240sx general chat section regarding importing vehicles, and RI's I believe have been covered a couple of times. I've been looking at this method personally, since before you posted that link (although thanks for the link, I had not seen that site before).

Oh, and Motorex will straight out tell you you can import from another source and pay them later to convert it. But they *claim* it's cheaper to import it through them.

Actually, it says that if your port is not listed to call. I bet you can call them and have it shipped to L.A. instead of Miami. It will probably be cheaper then shipping it to Miami *and* shipping it by land to L.A.

yes, $900 is for UP TO 10 cubic meters, a R33 Skyline is 11.31724 cubic meters, there for it will cost you $1500 to ship. And just to let you know, they are going to throw as much **** as possible in the sea crate so it will take you a long time to get your Skyline and it could potentially be damaged.

A RI is a "Registered Importer." They import vehicles and parts, and are registered with the DOT and EPA to legally be allowed to do that, if you do it on your own it is 1) illegal and 2) very difficult to do,

But wait cant i import the car for track racing or parts because i bet if i took off the valve cover, took out the ECU and disconect the Electric to the fuel pump i proably can get it through custom as PARTS

I wouldn't even **** with that. If Customs decided to open up your crate you'd be s*** out of luck, that car will gone, and not back to where it came from, it'd be on its way to the wrecker. No refund, no nothing, you'd be out quite a bit of cash,

the hoops people have to jump through just to get the car they want to the states is just rediculous. An SUV pours out more smog that a 600hp GT-R, safety glass and door beams are no-brainer things to put in the car so it is compliant with the idiotic safety nazi's wishes. How's that 25 year rule go, my Newman is an 83' a few more years.

You don't have to import a Skyline through an RI if you are taking it to Motorex anyway. The only reason you have to go through an RI is to make it street legal. Since no RI can certify a Skyline except for Motorex, it doesn't matter who imports it. As long as it goes to Motorex before it is driven on the street. Motorex is the only RI that will legalize a skyline.

Exactly, but you'd still need an RI to get through all the paperwork, and to get a sea crate, since they know how to get through the customs, EPA, and DOT loops, you need to have some things signed before you can even get it to MotoRex, but they do the actual licensing,
