WE have already discussed it like gentleman. I revoked that statement as it didn't convey too well what I really ment. Only a true anime geek would bring video games into a car discussion.

Krazy, greet talking to ya. The 2.2T is not a Mitsu and neither is the 2.5. They slipped my mind. In the words of Will Ferrell in 'Old School' "Your crazy.... I Like you, .....but your crazy........I feel tired...."

Any time man. I must also note that a good deal of those 2.2 and 2.5 dodge owners are indeed crazy folks. The Minivans alone scare me to no end. :D

Because GM gives a 300,000 warrenty on their HD fleet diesel drivetrain they feel so confiedent in them. In anycase, American cars that come with turbos you can count on like one hand.

Lastly, I am a certified technician.....

....And about a GT-R doing 13.0, what model are you refering to? Cuz Rex's R33 only went mid 14's when he got it here? Again keep in mind that in Japan they have no emissions and run 110 octane sulfer free gas.

The Chevrolet Duramax Diesel is turbocharged and produced for them by Isuzu. http://media.gm.com/corpcom/00news/g000718d.htm

95%+ of all commercial diesel engines are turbocharged and seeing semi rigs with a million miles on them is not terribly uncommon. Turbos aren't unreliable, they just like oil changes.

Japan has a pretty serious inspection called Shiyaken that is quite the opposite of "no emmisions". Its serious enough that if a car fails they chop it for parts and fine the owner for not maintaining proper specs. That's how all these nearly-new JDM motors are being sold here for so cheap. They might not have EGR, but they do most certainly have emmissions.

Rex's R33 also had a ****load of crash support beams, cats, DOT spec safety glass, and other components installed to make it legal here. Technically its not a "stock" skyline but one that got porked out a bit to make it legal here. Gasoline in Japan is RON 98. Gasoline here is between 91 and 94 an rated by the R+M/2 method as opposed to just research octane as in japan. Its nearly the same fuel as 92-94 and there's only a few problems running 91 when you go for crazy boost levels/ECU piggybacks. Sulfur content is a problem with Diesel fuel, not Gasoline.

Think twice, post once.

I didn't even noticed he said that there are no emissions in Japan. Japan's emissions are even more strict than they are here. Try to take you car to inspection with even ride height issues let alone engine mods, make ya think cali cops are nice. Everything must be stock. I didn't think there was anyone on here that knew about the shiyaken. They don't exactly cut your car up for being out of spec... I just becomes cheaper to buy a new car than to pay the ever growing inspection fee.

The car buying process is significantly different in Japan. All you need is a guarantor (co-signer, not always needed), a job and a place to park the car. The most interesting part though is the fact that you have to prove to the police that you have a parking spot.Ohh and NEW cars are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than they are here in the US.

I gotta clarify that the only Mazda designed turbo motor ford used was in the probe, oh, and maybe the capri, I can't remember on that one(this is purely domestic, I know the old Tx3 in UK used the Mazda 1.8 turbo and there's probably some more stuff)...

The SVO Mustang and Turbo Coupes as well as the early 80's turbo escort were from Ford's own dearborn guys. They saw the 4 cylinder turbos as the 5.0 of the next generation if you will and in some regards they were very right even though they ditched the idea for the Mustang and stuck with displacement.

oh, and I think both the Eclipse and Talon were built in Ohio, so I reckon the Talon would be domestic while the Eclipse is import in the same sense Maximas are. Ok, I'll let this horse die and poke at it with a stick anymore:D

I wonder if that spec v guy feels kinda dumb yet?

its a matter of taste but ibelieve the true uglieness of the concept was the way the body flowed together the rear throws the whoel car off. The way its shaped. Dont know but some stuff grows on you like the Sentras bubble butt was ugly to me but I kinda like it now.
