No check really. Do you have a CONSULT1? Me neither. Usually an airflow meter won't cause a car to shut off out of nowhere. When airflow meters go bad they tend to cause the car to run like crap for a minute then shut off. If thats your problem, then yea, airflow meter is a possibility. Maybe Air intake valve for your idle speed control. I have seen, on those maximas in particular, the AIV valve or the control unit take each other out. You'll end up having to replace both at the same time. It's uncertain whether to say which has gone bad first. However, usually in that case, the idle is high and will not come down. Don't overlook this aspect. You may try to go to the dealership and have them do a "function test" of the Idle Air Valve, with CONSULT1 or 2 (which ever plug it is), and see if all goes well. If not, you may be on to something.
