New owner of the Q, replacing a 2000 I30t. The power and quality of this machine makes my I30 seem like they have no relation. It kind of puts my living room to shame. But whatever, I'm excited about joining this group and participating with all the ins and outs.

Found a OEM spoiler on a '03 Q at Pick-A-Part this weekend. Had to drill some holes in my trunk to install it. Here's a pic...

I'm thinking about wrapping it in chrome vinyl for now, until I get my car plasti-dipped.

Hey All,
I am happy to report in as a new member to this forum and am pleased to announce that I am the proud owner of an (almost new) 1998 Q45t!

I just picked up my one previous owner, mint condition, 30Kmile, Q45t on 11/29/11. My father had a 1994 Q45 which would still be in the family if it wasn't in a write-off fender bender about 3 years ago. Needless to say there has always been a soft spot in our family for the Q - quality.

Here is my story and a quick background on this exceptional find!

For the last 10 years - I was the proud owner of a Mitsubishi 3000gt base 5-speed manual. The car had serious character and was a lot of fun - but at 117K miles (keep in mind the 120K mile tune-up on the way) it was becoming expensive to maintain. The kicker was the fact that I recently took a new sales position which will require me to continuously cart clients around - something which was impossible in the 3000gt.

When searching for cars I stuck to a budget of 12K my hot buttons were 1) RWD 2) V8 3) Leather, Sunroof, Premium Sound 4) Character / Individuality / Rarity.

I initially went to the dealership to look at a 2001 Infiniti i30. That car was very nice and a great value @ 34K mikes - but I couldn't take my eye off the Q45t parked in the middle of the showroom among the new 2011 models. I knew it was there - but with a window sticker price above my budget I tried to look the other way. Fortunately I couldn't! The Q looked amazing, drove amazing and at 30,000 K miles was a significant find!

After two days of test driving, inspecting the undercarriage on the lift, researching everything I could find on this beast on the internet (including this helpful forum as well as kbb.com) I made a deal and traded in one 1998 for another - albeit a much better 1998 IMHO :) I am amazed at how quick my Q is off the line, how powerful and smooth this car is - 80 MPH seems like I'm going 50 MPH. The turning radius is impressive (it basically turns on itself / dime) - this auto is very comfortable overall - yet still has a serious performance edge (car does not 'float' at all - perhaps because of the t suspension?). I drove it about 80 miles today with a big smile on my face...watch out Chicago - POC's 98 Q45t is on the loose!

Special thanks to my Dad for helping me with the hunt and every step of the way!

Details of my Q:

1998 Q45t @ 30 K miles (lowest mileage second generation Y33 for sale in the U.S. at time of writing 12/1/2011)
Grey leather interior
Color Code: #KR5 = Pewter Pearl Metallic Clearcoat (Greenish Gray)
1 owner, garage kept, but still 14 years old and lived in a downtown Chicago garage but there are some very small very minimal dings and dents (overall the car is MINT)

You did well to ignore the i30 and get the Q45. The i30 was nothing but a rebadged (for N. America) Nissan Maxima, not even a luxurious interior--just a workhorse Accord competitor.

Hey fam, here's a little snippet of my F50 CIMA... I've owned her for a good two years . Stock for the time being till I can locate the right stuff for the right price.... Cimas aren't the cheapest when it comes to aftermarket unless you find it used. For me atleast.
Hope to see more f50 owners !

Took two months to get it straight but it is finished. Driverside rear quarter panel was my first try at real body work. Came out ok compared to the damage that was there when I brought the car. It needed a new rear quarter cut and installed but for all that I could just buy another q45 without damage. Paid 700 for car with about 500 in parts. saved on doing the repairs my self. Thanks for nicoclub could not have got all those lights turned of on the dashboard.

Thats a one piecce android mirror hooked to the windshield , so it looks factory

Cheap china coils will make you car run good but it will through a p1320 code, I can vouch for that. Disables you vdc and slip, but not you abs. If you abs light is on then you need from abs sensors. No way around the $350 repair. Get them from autozone just incase they go bad you can take them back. and get the extended warranty.

Picked up this 1999 Q45t this weekend. Needs a few things done to get it back to being 100%, but definitely enjoying it. Need to fix my wiring harness since it decided to drag itself for about an hour while I was driving it home. Trying to decide whether to go S13/14 suspension or just stick with Y33 for now.

It’s definitely nice. Eventually gunna get a drag wing to replace it, but that won’t be for a while.

Hi all....

New to NICO & new to Nissans ;). Just left the Honda scene after being a die hard Honda guy since 96’/97’ & picked up a Q45t this past September- so obviously haven’t had it that long..few months. Was well taken care of & just been doing little things since until I start the major custom work..

So far just maintaining/changing/flushing fluids, changed the HIDS (low & high beams), painted the grill black & used the Meguiars polish kit on lights. I also just put on some 20’s yesterday that I found on FB for cheap. Has decent system in it. Next few weeks I’ll be doing wires/plugs/intake/exhaust & a brake kit.

...pics up shortly if I can get it to work lol

Some quick updates, had to replace a couple things within last few weeks including the brake booster so couple parts are on hold till next month. Think I got a small vacuum leak after fixing the booster so ima check/fix that within next few days otherwise booster helped a lot with a few other issues I was having.

Will be gettin the rest I wanted to do done within next 2wks. Could be worse just delay of plans a bit lol. ;)
