shift light out

the light on my shifter (that shows whether im in drive or park or neutral) is out. its the only light not working in my car, so i doubt its a fuse. how do you go about changing that bulb? I don't even know where its located.

you would probably have to remove the entire gauge cluster.

even tho the light isnt on the gauge cluster, its in between the front seats? i prolly didnt explain that well enough. i dont know what the shifter is called.

I had the same problem in my 03 SE-R, so I know exactly what you mean.Yes, it's only the bulb, and it's a pain to replace. I waited about 6 months before tackling the job.You have to "pop" up the shifter surround (the part with the PRND21 on it), and hope you don't scratch anything in the process. Then loosen the plastic shroud that surrounds the whole assembly. You'll have to take out a few screws, if I remember right. Then comes the hard part. You'll have to prop up the whole assembly as high as you can, and then with some really long and slender fingers, reach under the assembly from the drivers' side, and remove the (tiny) bulb. Putting the new one in is not much easier. Hope this helps.Good luck.

wow, that sounds tricky. thank you for explaining how to change the bulb. i think i might wait on it though. the light being out doesn't bother me all that much, its just annoying. but sometime, i will come back to this post and attempt it. thanks

werd i have a manual but i was thinking that the shifter indicator was in the dash, DUh, its not a honda lol mybad
