As the title states, the carrier bearing is SHOT. How do I go about fixing this. The U-joints looked to be pressed in, with no C-clips? I know it has to be possible, otherwise they wouldn't be sold at autozone. Could someone please shed some light on this issue. Would a shop be able to do it? Thanks in advanced.

My carrier bearing had failure of the bearing housing. My bearing was still good, but it all needed to be replaced. I had my friend/mechanic do it for me. Sorry I can't shed any light on the procedure.

You'll have to take the driveshaft out completely and split it, u-joints are bolted onto the driveshaft. So split your driveshaft, pull off the joint in front of the carrier bearing, slide the bearing off and slide your new one on. might be stuck, don't be overly aggressive and make sure you tape/cover the yoke so you don't ding it up which can tear up your tail seal and you'll be pissing out transmission fluid.
