:S

About a day or two ago in the middle of the night somebody decided to shatter the rear window to my car that was parked in front of the house. I'm not sure why it happened, seeing everyone in the neighborhood also parks their cars in front of their houses but I'm not a big fan of worrying and wasting energy being down and mad. Rather just use it to fix whats happened. My mom already called someone to see about a new back window but I don't know what price they gave her. Does anybody know what I should probably expect to get a back window installed for a 94 J30? I'm not thinking it should be a lot seeing 2 years or so ago this happened to my brothers 02 Explorer Sport in Dallas and he was told it'd be around 140. If anybody may have an idea, i'd appreciate it! thanks.

Also I think this is a lesson to my mom and I. She always wanted me to park the car out in the front so she "can look at it." I always figured to just put it in the garage despite it being hard to open and time consuming. This isn't a bad neighborhood but I just don't trust people. I'm more about preventing then assuming things will be okay. But yeah, park cars in the garage! lol. I need to go warn my neighbors :S (specially the ones across the street with 3 beautiful Infiniti's X].)

First off let me compliment you on owning a very clean and good looking J.I feel your pain. Two weeks ago I was on the Interstate and heard the dreaded "PWOP" on the windshield. A quick scan of my front glass revealed the little star pattern with a 3 or 4 inch leg already growing from it. By the time I got to where I was going the leg had grown to about 6 inches and by the next morning it was about 10 inches. So I had to replace my windshield and I was expecting 5 or 6 hundred dollars. To my surprise it was only $251 installed with a 12 month replacement warranty covering everything and like a 10 year warranty on leakage. You can call and get quotes, I'm sure with you being in the Dallas area you will have many choices as to where to get it done. You need to keep in mind though that your rear window is tinted, has a defroster and has an antenna. This could cause sticker shock when you first get your quotes.Make sure when you get your quotes that you are comparing apples to apples. One place might give you the lowest quote, only for you to find out that the window has no tinting, antenna or a defroster.Good luck and take advantage of the garage,Lance

Call around to an auto recycler(wrecker/salvage yard). You should be able to find rear glass for cheap. Installation is very straight forward at any glass shop.

I got the dreaded pwop sound on my Acura. Got hit by a rock. Now I have a nice star pattern that hasn't yet started to spread(still tiny). One thing I learned years ago when I had to get the windhshield on the J replaced due to rock hit, was that you should clean the area ASAP with glass wipe and tape it down nicely with scotch tape. It prevents the crack from spreading and buys you a bit of time.

i actually not too long ago was calling around salvage yards looking for car parts and only one had a J30, and the J30 was in half.. lol so i got nothing from that but i'm sure i didn't call every single one seeing how big Houston is. i'll check some out tomorrow, thankss

At my local Pull-A-Part a rear window is only $23.18. If you can find one at a yard in your area you might not come out to bad.

Oh I almost forgot good luck,After reading a couple of your recent post you need to go and buy a lucky rabbits foot, find a four leaf clover or something, you've been having some bad luck lately.
