Sentra starting issues. 92 sentra 1.6

Intermitent starting prob. wont turn over at times. Turn key no crank - turn key up to 6times till I get crank then starts right up.

-tested battery OK; bought new battery anyway.

Starting prob. went away for awhile and came back.

-removed starter & tested at kragens - Ok.

Open ignition cover and key hole has play. seems ignition switch was bad - had to wiggle key to start.

Went to work in AM ok but after work car wont start. Cranking but no start.

Check spark - YES

Check fuel line seems no pressure - gas not pouring when starting.

Check fuel pump voltage ok at relay and fuse box.

Remove fuel pump. Hot wire pump and it works. Re-install pump but still no start - no gas pumping out of line.

Remove pump again direct wire it(sending unit) while in tanks - pumps gas ok.

Reinstall pump and hookup = IT WORKS!!!!

Was it a fuel pump prob. or was it electrical?? ...Will it fail again?? Aargh!!

Need to buy fuel pump gasket/ O-ring.

Seems to me you hit it on the head when you said about the ignition switch.These seem to give problems, the the pump not pumping indicates the problem is with the power turning on with the switch.Good Luck....

I have to agree. This seems like an ignition issue. Check the wiring from the ignition to the fuel pump.
