I have a 96 Sentra with the 1.6, shes just my little daily beater, and a month or so ago she would'nt start, so I thought it was my starter, but that check out good, so I ran a wire to my starter and my battery, and ran them to a starter switch, what do you know, if I turn my key to the on position just like I was to start my car (when I try to start it, nothing happens) and push my button, she starts right up fine, Its not exactly a pressing issue to me because I have her running, I was just curious if anyone had any Ideas, Thanks.

Sounds like the wiring is bad.

I like how you've made a push button starter that easily while every carmaker right now acts like push button start is hot stuff.

I thought I would hear that, I really dont even know where to start with the wiring, Im thinking maybe the ignition? I thought It may even be my security system?

If the security system is aftermarket, that may be a good place to start. Though I know there's an electronic lock-out for the B15's security system. The dealer has to recode the keys for it to reset.

Otherwise, trace the wiring from the battery to the ignition and the ignition to the starter.

The car is too old to have to be programmed, hell, some of the B15's don't even need to be programmed. Certain models didn't have programmable keys until 2004.

I knew immobilizer was an option, now I know it didn't even exist til the B15. I learn something new every day.

My '01 does too. He wasn't saying Sentras didn't have it, just that it was an option.

Anyway, sounds like this problem has to be in the wiring.

It's all good. GXEs and base 1.8s along with the regular 1.8S did not have the immobilizer function.
