so i bought a j30t last fall, ran and drove great. for a couple months till the transmission gave me problems and stoped grabbing the gears. the car has 157k miles on it, body is in great shape. dark green, doesnt burn oil, leather is real nice, only real wear on the car is on upper door panel. so the question is would there be enough intrest for parts to part it out, or would you just sell it as is? i have some pictures but are dirty just from sitting the last seveal months. i live in washington, so im not sure if theres many people on here close by that would want some of the larger parts if i did part out. let me know what you guys think

You sure your transmission filter isn't clogging up ???

Fluid look/smell burnt ??Replacing the transmission would be alot cheaper than buying a new car .

i havent checked the filter, would that really make the transmission completely stop working?(let me add the transmission would everyonce in awhile make a wierd low pitched grinding sound in park and nuetral, and then when the it wont grab the gear anymore it sometimes will make the sound in drive. it would work for a short trip and then stop, no burning smells, fluid looks good and actually looked replaced at one time. i have 4 other cars at my place. i bought this last fall just for something i could drive for the fall/winter then sell not to keep anyways. i am just trying to get my money back out of the car and wouldnt mine parting it out if theres enough intrest for parts sense everything else is in real good condition

I suggest getting the problem diagnosed then making a decision.

Drop in a new transmission. If there's nothing else wrong with it, why sell it? Fix the transmission & drive on!

if i fix it im going to sell it. thats why im just trying to figure out the best bang for my buck. if theres enough people on here i might just part it out and would make more money then selling it local as a whole. i had it for sale for 1650 before the transmission went out, with no calls for weeks or anything. there was a transmission for 350-400 about a two hour drive at a junk yard. but im not even sure if its worth the money and time after i sell. also as i mentioned before i have other cars i want to keep over this. i have thought about buying a transmission and putting it in it, its just i dont want to waste my time if its not going to be a good financial move in the long run.

it doesnt take rocket appliances to figure out when a transmission is bad. if you havent noticed its not a uncommon thing for these j30's

A decent Nissan remanned [capable of lasting 6 years] will run $2500-$2750 installed and a non drivable vehicle is worth $500 towed to a junkyard.

Junkyard trannies are usually warrantied for 30-90 days.

Just put a JDM transmission in your car. I got one of Ebay 2 years ago for 200 and has been working fine since. I have about 45,000 mi on the new transmission.
