Long time since last here!

I was wondering your thoughts on these car seat covers:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

They look nice, but I don't know if I should get them. I was thinking the beige for my beige interior and they look real nice.

Anyway your thoughts appreciated!

Thanks!

those look descent......with any seat covers you need to make sure that they will work with the side airbags mounted in the side of the seats

Long time no see!

Looks quality... shame it doesn't include the rear seats... I was talking with a manufacturer who sold on eBay last spring who was going to make covers for the Camel... then apparently had a stroke and forgot our conversation and then refused to do it... but that place does front and rear covers...

From the item description, they use Velcro on the sides to they'll open up if the side airbags deploy.

They look nice. I can't tell if they're custom fit for the seats or not. If you buy them, post up some pics and let us know how they fit!

So the airbags will have to deploy past the velcro? Sounds like a bad idea - it is complicated enough to time the expansion of gases to fill and deflate an airbag at the right moment... adding additional hurdles that alter deployment timing = bad idea IMO.

An airbag deploys with so much intensity and velocity, it'll pull the velcro apart without delay. It's probably the same amount of interruption that a piece of cardboard would cause to a bullet shot from a gun.

These types of seat covers are designed to work with side airbag vehicles. I've even seen seat covers that are sewn on the side seams with weak threading that breaks away when the airbags deploy.

They are custom fit... I e-mailed the guy... they'll do the rear for $75 + $7/headrest and center thingy ... so $100 for the rear, $40 for the front, $10-20 for shipping...

none too shabby...

These look very cool.

What do you guys think for a balck with beige interior car. The dark beige or beige? I'm adding bleu led's to the footwell and cup holders.

Thank goodness they're made in the USA - Lord knows that's my main concern for accessories for my Japanese-by-Mexico vehicle.

Hey niennumb, I think the dark biege seatcoves would look great in your V with the light beige interior.

We have the White SL, with beige interior, and with 5 months of frozen butt each year here in Alberta, decided to go with a set of beige 'Sheepskin' seat covers. We also bought ours on eBay, I think they were $29.95. for the pair.

They are real 1" deep sheepskin on the seating surfaces and a matching beige stretch pile on the rest. The Versa Seat is very 'bulky' and of course has the side airbag feature, so what I did was remove the headrest, fold the seat cover over the top of the back unit and cut 2 little holes in it and then put the headrest back on through the holes. That gives me a full coverage on the seating area and allows the side bags to blow freely if they have too.

I am a great fan of Sheepskin covers, as they are cool in the summer and in the winter, the almost intantly warm when you sit down. They also last for years and years. So, as to the color selection you are looking for advice on, my sheepskins are a very light 'Camel' color, and I think if they were a little darker, it would match the interior better...For those who have the charcoal interiors ...any shade of black looks great.

But lets put it this way, no matter what shade of beige you go with, if it's sheepskin no one will complain when their butt hits the seat on a Frosty Friday.

thx for all the replies and further even looking into this! The covers do look cool and I just might get myself a set. It would be better than the plain looking beige interior I currently have.

actually these are pretty crappy, i have the black and white version, and the color chips off, and plus i had to return them twice b/c the company sent me stained ones.

dude that sucks... with stuff like this you really get what you pay for... no use spending money on a low quality product right? it's just a waste.

for seat covers i think it's better to get custom made seatcovers, they'll fit better & look better and the manufacturer will make them specifically for your car's side airbags. seriously i wouldn't take chances with something like that.

Yea, I plan on making my own seat covers. I just need to find some decent quality vinyl. Instructables.com has a decent tutorial for custom seat covers. I like the weak Velcro idea for the back.
