Depends on where the salt is. If you just spray the engine and get water in electrical components then all kinds of things can go bad. If it is just one spot wipe it off with a wet rag. If it is everywhere then best to find a write up on how to properly clean your motor and follow that.

add some pepper and serve

yes it's a good idea to clean it off, many car washes offer engine steam cleaning, or you can buy an engine cleaner at a parts store or walmart, and follow the directions

I work at a dealership and its okay to pressure wash it as long as the car's ON gurantee you weve only had one problem with a Camry in wich the technician accidently left the sparkplug wire off just a lil and it messed up the spark plug. But as far as the 350z evrything should be OK

Nissan recommends going to the nearest subway and ordering your favorite sub. Then popping the hood and rubbing the sandwich all over the salt, followed by eating the sub with only a fork.

Hate to correct you but its actually a spork...

I have only done it once but I just unplugged the battery hosed off the engine bay and left the hood open for a couple hours or until I thought everything was dry.

i think he forgot a word in there... ive checkd out some of the engine cleaners at parts stores and all say to do with the engine off. and to let it dry before starting your car and letting it bring itself up to temp.

Its straight if there is no electricity runnin through anywhere. take your battery out or unplug it, pressure wash to your liking, and let it dry thoroughly before you hook everything back up and start it. Problems occur when things are wet and current is trying to flow.

GURANTEE you nothing will happen if you wash your motor while its running the reason to leave it running is so that you have no problems starting it back up and that way evreything evaporates TRUST ME

the problem is taht if you spray cold water on a HOT engine you can crack parts due tot he rapid cooling, any water sprayed on should be a fine mist not a heavy stream and if doen while running ideally before the car is cmpletely warmed up

If you are worried about rust, get a rag and some WD-40. Spray the rag with WD & wipe off the salt. This serves 2 purposes, it cleans off the salt & will pull any water that the salt attracted out of the metal. Wipe any excess WD off & you are good to go. No need to purchase expensive engine cleaners. WD-40 was designed for this type of cleaning.

Eww use a teflon based lubricant (or at least pure silicone). WD-40 attracts dust like whoa...
