Alright, so I say this is a horrible idea. I've got a friend of mine who's building up a pretty badass S14 SR into his S13 coupe, but he's running low on dough and getting a little impatient (which I can understand, as I've done it). He's planning on trying to run somewhere between a 740-800cc injector and tuning the ECU via his SAFC to compensate for them. I'm telling him this is a horrible, HORRIBLE, idea and that he's going to screw something up, but he's insistant that it's got to move on it's own. Am I wrong? Will this work for a little while? I really don't think he's gonna get ANYWHERE with this. I think as soon as he trys it he's gonna burn up the ECU. What do you guys think?

He's gonna trash his engine thinking he's fueling the thing properly. Why so much injector? What's his power goals? If he wants to use that SAFC, he should seriously consider an injector not greater than 550cc. With those 750s he's asking for it in the worst way. And to think he has problems with loot now, it can only get worse.

His power goals are quite high. He's got a Straight T4 that's going on there. He knows better, and I think I've got him talked out of it. You know him actually Dee. I'd rather not say who it is on the boards, but he came down from Kansas and hung out with you. Think Dee's Salted Nuts...

740's will put the SAFC at -50% correction. so he won't have enough room left to tune the SAFC for optimum power.

He's being cheap. He's moving across town next month and is in a hurry for that. I told him to slow his azz down and think about it. I've got a friggin Jeep that I would be more than willing to use to help tow his car across with with.

SAFC is bad as is, add big injectors and a bigg(er) turbo, that motor is going to be toast.

It is cheaper to buy a EMS and do it the right way, then replacing what he will mess up AND buying a EMS to correct the problem.

I like that quote. I think it should be used as a sig or something because some of these guys that are in such a rush to get boostin', are in for a big treat "Poof" . I used to blast engines and mess up money on a regular basis. That $h!t gets old quickly.

Yeah, I have been through it before too with a half-assed job on a DSM and I swore that I wouldn't do it again. As you can see from my other posts on here, I am taking my time and gathering all the necessary things to do it right the first time.

I think he's talked out of it, but I guess we'll find out in a month or so. I still haven't done his wiring yet, so he's not getting too far. It's an S14 SR into an S13 chassis so I'm not lookint forward to it. Still not sure why I agreed to do it....
