well, since rexhunta all ready did a write up on the e-manage, immona do one on the SAFC IIcus some of us are flat broke, and cant mess with big expensive computers like you ballin' boys can.
first off, THE SAFC IS A CRUTCH, IF USED IMPROPERLY, IT OR MORE SPECIFICALLY, YOU CAN BLOW YOUR BELOVED CA TO SH11T!!!!!!!!!
Anywho. The SAFC has 11 wires in its harness, we, nissan guys do not use the pink, orange , or blue wires, i think the EVO guys use the pink/ orange wires to fool the MAFS, i honestly dont know exactly what those wires are for.
to start, run the SAFC wires throught the dash to the ECU i ran mine through the hole under the radio, above the Glove box, (cuz mine is mising at the moment) ziptied the whole shebang down, wires to the big ugly metal brace under there , and down to the ECU, so that everything looks nice and clean and neat.
Wiring, you need to locate the MAFS Wires, the ones you extended when doing the initial swap were green/black, and green/yellow, i used a SOHC KA MAFS, so i neede to use only one of those wires, but i wired them both in, i dunno why but my car ran like Crap otherwise , so i foud the two wires on the ECU, Theyre both across from each other, pins # 37 & 27, and Cut them in half about 3 cm from the ECU, dont loose them in the rats nest of wires down there, cuz you need em, the SAFC harness has one Yellow wire, i spliced ans sodered that yellow wire to the two MAFS wires that go in to the ECU. The two wires that go out the firewall and to the MAFS need to be spliced in to and sodered to the white wire that comes off of the SAFC harness.NOTE, i used both because i wired BOTH during the originall install, if when extending the wires to the MAFS in the engine bay you used only one, either the Greeen/black or the green/yellow, then use the one you wired and not the other.
the Grey wire coming off of the SAFC harness needs to be spliced in to the TPS wire from the ECU, which is a light green wire with a black stripe on it pin # 38 just strip the ECU wire 2-3 cm from the plug and splice & soder the grey wire in to it,
the green wire from the SAFC harness goes to the tach signal output, from the ECU, its a bright yellow and red wire, pin# 7
the purple wire from the SAFC harness goes to the knock sensor wire, its a thik solid white wire pin # 23, same deal, strip ECU wire, splice and Soder
the Red wire from the SAFC harness goes to an ECU power, i used the black with a white stripe down it wire thats on the end of the ECU, its pin #109, dont get that one confused with the thick white wire with a black stripe through it that is right next to it, thats injector # 1 and your SAFC will porlly turn on and off alot if you wire in to that one, you could also use pins # 59 & 49 which are above the solid black ECU ground wires on the opposite end.
the black and brown wires need to be spliced in to the ECU Ground wires theyre on the end of the ECU and theres two of them, i think you need to put both on the same wire, theyre solid black, pins # 60& 50 either one will do, the brown wire needs to be spliced in about 2 cm from the ECU, and the black wire needs to be spliced in 2 cm further towards the firewall
ECU---Black ground wire--------------------------------------------------------firewall
SAFC-------------------------------------^brown wire ------------------------------------------------------------------^black wire
if all is hooked up right then stuff will work rightI can not stress this more: SODER EVEREYTHING, then cover it thourgouly with electrical tape, if you do not you do not belong near cal electronicks
with the SAFC up and running i went to (from the top menu)3. etc.then down to sensor type to hotwire, and set everything to 01 in-----01 outflap to the same and pressure to the same
under car select in the etc menu i chose 4 cyl and the thr arrow pointing up to the right
make sure that under the etc. manue # 9 initialise is set to NO otherwise the SAFC will go back to stock settings.
as for settings and tuning youre on your own like me, GET A WIDEBAND, AND A DYNO, OR A FRIEND
ill post picks as soon as i get my hand on a camera
theres an ECU pinout in the stickies at the top.
r34 gtrjump in and yell if i did anyhting stupid, he helped get m ein the righ direction in terms of setting this thing up thanx man
my settings as of right now with stock everything:throttle point lo throttle15% high throttle 55%lo throttle, for now all corrections at 0hi throttle1000 +112000 +163000 +183600 +194000 +204400 +224800 +245200 +245600 +246000 +256400 +266800 +27
all street tuned and i think theyre horribly off, so im off to go retune, cuz the raqin just stopped, if anyone has suggestions or help they can offer, besides go standalone, or get an emanage, og get a chip it would be much appreciated.
