Hi My car started with a rough idle this morning. After driving a short distance it started sputtering and losing power. Still idles rough. Checked the ECU and cam up with a code 56. Can't seem to find any info on this code.

The knock sensor isn't your problem it only retards timing by 5 degrees ,and its coming up as a result of the way your car is running. It will run without the knock sensor. Make sure your ECU didn't read 55 and get back with us. Im not familiar with s14 codes but I dont think 56 is one of them.
Check timing, MAF,TPS voltages first. check fuel PSI second. Then go from there. make sure you look up the FSM it has ALL the answers.

56 is not a valid code....if you checked it with a scanner you should have cleared the code..start it up and let it run, make sure problem is still present and then check again.

Codes and way to read from ecu are described here.... http://www.240sx.org/faq/articles/ecm_codes_doch.htm

I think I found the culprit. I neglected to mention I sprayed the engine down the day before. After pulling the plugs they looked water fouled. I replaces them, also put dielectric grease on the wires, and installed new z32 fuel filter. All is well for now. Thanks for the help guy's!!!!!!!!!!!!
