ok guys.. im on the understanding that the s14 sr20 intercooler kit goes right on the ca18 into an s13 with little or no mods and that for a hotpipe you can order any kind of hotpipe for an s13 sr20. ie: greddy, enjuku racing. hks. etc and it will all go right in... however my question is.. can i use any s14 intercooler kit..like instead of spending 600 on teh greddy vspl could i use lets say.. a kit off ebay? thanks guys for any info you can share with me

well i guess the saying u get what u pay for should go here...all fmic kits (namebrand anyway) should be ordered by engine not by chassis.....so say u hae a s14 sr in a s13 u use an s14 fmic kit...now is this the same for ebay kits... this is due to cold pipe fitment...which is why the s14 kit works w/ our motor because the throttle body location is similar///im sorry i dont know the answer to yer ?...but u'd think it would be...anyone here know???

It's my understanding that the reason the S13 SR FMIC kits dont work is because their throttle bodies are lower and the cold pipe angles down where it connects.

The S14 SR has the throttle body in a similar position as the CA so the cold pipes are interchangible.

I'm not sure if the S14 IC core has different mounting tabs or not tho, therefore ideally you'd want an S13 SR kit with S14 SR cold piping after the IC.....but since the piping is the harder part to get ahold of, people just get the S14 kit and change the hot piping.

You could always just buy the S14 piping and peice something together if you wanted to save money or already had a core. I believe this here:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AITis the same as the Hybrid piping (which I hear originates in Hong Kong as well).

ssautochrome sells an s14 fmic piping kit for 225. I know its not the best brand, but I'm in the same situation trying to find the simplest way to run intercooler piping to my core and this is all I've been able to find.
