s13 - rb25 + 383 + boost = MATAfied's ride

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Where I live the closest e85 supplier is 120 miles away. southern cali only has en e85 station in sandiego last time I checkedthat is why I won't be running my car on it anyways.

did not notice if you mentioned a cam change for the turbo set up.

thanks for all the props guys, helps keep the momentum going.

got my alt bracket, roller rokers and my valve covers in. Need a fuel regulator and ls1 throttle body and we will hear this thing fire up!! Also i have to drill the valve covers for breathers

Are you going to use a header mounted evac system? Moroso is to cheap not to do IMO. I'm going to use it on...well every project I have planned really. Starting with the KAT.

Water is free!!! Running a single nozzle will allow for another 4-5 psi easy. 10 psi with the standard BPU 350 is going to give you serious traction issues.

Summit sells the kits for $67 dude. You'll need some type of crankcase evac, and the header mounted kits do a pretty decent job. That and they promote really good ring seal during WOT situations.

nice, just not sure how they would work on my setup. from what i read they dont work good with back presure.

thought about just a regular catch can setup??

If you have enough backpressure in the exhaust to prohibit the venture effect from happening with the scavenge fittings then you have serious issues.

When you say catch can, do you mean a catch mounted between the intake vacuum source and PCV/check valve?

That works only at idle and off boost. When you finally go FI you'll need something that pulls crankcase fumes when the intake mani isn't under vacuum. Especially when the motor is at it's highest load and creating the most blow-by.

And use a double check/pcv valve. That way under boost you're not pressurizing the crankcase. Or a single one meant for high boost. I've been researching and reading up on crankcase stuff over the last 2-3 months. Free power and clean oil is always a bonus. So is not recirculating oil into the intake, which in your case will lesson an already octane hindered motor.

what about if the vacuum is pulled from the breather side of the turbo? The crankcase would be exposed to vacuum all the time and expecially under WOT, kinda like this. would this work??

Well, that only "kinda" works when your actually on boost. Because the only time it's actually pulling air when the old turbo is spooled up. When she's not spooled there isn't any vacuum there. If there was vacuum then you'd have a serious restriction in the air filter...lol. Unfortunately, the amount of blow-by usually caused when at full load on boost is more then what will be able to be pulled out via pre-turbo suction.

Granted, it does work better then nothing. But f you use this method, I'd also tap a vacuum source from the manifold so you have evac during off boost driving.

Another thing you can do is use a GM vacuum pump. They came on tons of vehicles, from cars to trucks. They can be had for like $20 from the JY. Easy to wire up and you're not pulling fumes into the intake tract at all. This combined with a header mounted setup would be the best bet IMO. OR, have the pump triggered via Hobbs switch for on boost and use manifold vacuum for off boost. Basically any combination of the above idea's...lol.

When I finally finish a project I'll do a couple different write-ups on the different things and what works best. But you'll be done way before I will. So you're the guinea pig

The SR has a factory crankcase evacuation system already. It consists of a oil/air seperator, PCV valve and some vacuum lines running from the VC to the intake manifold and intake piping.

His motor has none of the above. So we're discussing the best methods for making your own system. None of these steps are hard or expensive to do. Infact some of the idea's we're talking about will perform far better then the stock setup on the SR.

Very Nice, and some great info.i guess i will just start by adding two -10 AN male fittings to my valve cover so i can go ahead and mount my valve covers

well i am at another cross road and need some input. I have on hand a brand new GT3582R from ATP Turbo.82 ar left over from the rb25 project. now i know this turbo is good to 600 hp, but im not sure if it is a big as i want. i do not have any crazy hp goals, just a good all around car with boost. i have been looking at the holset HX52 but i have this 35r already and dont want to wast my money. i really only have a goal of 500hp and know i could get it with the 35r, i just know deep down i need bigger

Nah...I'd use that turbo. No need for bigger. If you run into exhaust flow issues just use a bigger wastegate, or add a second one.

And remember, you can always get custom t4 housings for that turbo too. I'd just use the 35r, that thing will spool like crazy on that engine. You might actually make boost at idle!!! :D J/K.

yea right now its looking similar to yours except my turbo will be on the drivers side. also my y pipe is running under my harmonic ballancer rather than on top. I'm making my manifolds right now i cant wait.

man i never thought of that im slow. The down pipe makes perfect sense, plus jegs sells their kits for half the price of moroso

***UPDATE***

Well after a couple weeks of nothing I finally installed my fuel rails only to find out that all my perfect measurements all went out the window along with all my plains of everything fitting perfect under the hood. The fuel rails come in contact with the low profile edelbrock 3848 elbow that fit perfect under my hood, so I had to send it back and get the 3849 high flow elbow instead. This means that I def. have to chop up the hood now! lol that’s ok, just more reason to run a cowl hood. Also installed my new 90mm edelbrock throttle body.

well you dont have to cut the firewall, just hammer the tunnel a little. also the only headers that i seen that look to work ok are advanced adapters headers
