decided against selling it. the body shop fixing my everyday car is going to give me a good deal on replacing my radiator support as long as i bring it to them stripped down.

so the front end tear down begins....
Image

the plan is to have the support fixed with new fenders and headlights with working motors and front bumper (sticking with the pig nose + oem lip) by the end of january february. also gotta find belts for it since my local auto parts stores cant get them.

just alittle confused on removing the A/C components.

thanks for your interest! the front end is stripped, now just trying to source a new full radiator support to really get this started.

If the mounting spotwelds are not broken, and it's just bent with no crumpled areas, I have had suggested (on a different car, but I don't see why it shouldn't work on a 240, although you'd have to un-mount the radiator I think) the technique of parking the car near a tree, and getting a comealong/ratchet strap, looping it around the tree and the part of the support that needs to be bent, and just winching it into place.

i have some solid advice bro...first thing you need to concider before buying any more parts..is what your wanting to do with this car...if its friday night cruising..keep going the way you are..if you plan on drifting, roadracing,or drag racing..stop..3 of the best mods for the money are directly related to throttle responce and will benifit you greatly from the start..#1. aluminum drive shaft, lightwieght and gets rid of that carrier bearing;its a weak point..#2. lightwieght flywheel, againg faster throttle responce...#3 a 4-2 to 1 header . this will let your engine breath better..ebay headers are fine..for the price of that steering wheel you could have had that driveline bro..real car guys and gals will have more respect for a car that looks like s*** but has it where it counts..good luck and if ya need anymore idea's for what ever your planning..hit me up

i don't really have a plan with this car.it would be more of a friday night cruiser type of thing. but i don't know what i want to do with it. i have mixed feelings about just selling the car and starting with something clean and not needing a restoration like this. or just sticking with it and work it out. but i must not be a real car guy because when i see a s***box, its just a s***box to me. i'm not a drifter or a drag racer. just an enthusiast, but i like my car to be all one color with right fitting wheels, and no stupid fanboy body kits.

i thought of doing all that you said when i was doing the 5 speed swap, but its not worth it to me. the way i look at it, my steering wheel can go in anything or i can just sell it for what i paid. my goal is to have this car looking factory fresh before i really mod it.

like i said who knows what this car will turn out to be, if it turns out to be anything.

...well if it works....

It's a lot of pita (and money) saved, and more time for the important things, as long as everything fits on and it looks strait and has something to hold the radiator, who cares?

Around here we call that Ozark Engineering lol.

OP: do whatever you want to do with the car and don't worry what anyone else thinks (aside from please stop buying cheap crappy ebay parts) Cause you know what? "Real car guys", you know... us ...aren't cool people, we mostly sit around posting on forums about stuff we want to do to our cars, that is, when we're not standing around in parking lots talking about stuff we want to do to our cars. :D

Sweet.

So does having a clean late model ride mean you can have a franken-240?

Cause if you can't make the headlight and outside look right with a ratchet strap and vice grips, I just realized, if you're taking it to a shop anyways, have them build you a tube front, it will look the same from the outside, and can be made as strong or stronger than the original, and can be designed to bolt in, making parts easily removable for service or repair to stuff in the front.

And overall, it shouldn't cost much more than actually finding an un-damaged, but for sale, core support.

Haha, actually yea.I'm not gonna worry too much about the radiator support anymore. right now the 240 is waiting a battery. I will be going with a honda fit battery relocated to the trunk. and then to fix the headlights so they stay up and one day finding working motors. I gotta do rear drum brakes on my daily, and get a good buff and detail on the Z since the dealership i bought it from doesn't do full details.

in the meantime the s13 is still down awaiting its battery. but i did get a 25mm grommet to plug the antenna hole. also ordered a few bolts for the headlights, so they stay up again. and looking for a pig nose lip and a decent set of coilovers for it.
