I was swapping a 97ka into my 93 coupe, and i ran into an issue with my driveshaft.
the 97ka was in a 91 hatch, and used the original transmission that was in the hatch. we bolted up the transmission that was in the coupe into the 97 motor, and when we dropped it in i noticed that the driveshaft wasnt fully connected to the transmisison.
It's litterally _____ that far out from the transmission, and I wanna know how i can have it go fully in. and/or if this causes big problems or not

as far as I know all s13's used the same manual transmissions?

All KA MTs are the same. S14 MT had a 'collar' at the tailshaft that would need to be removed to fit the S13 DS.

Pics would help clear it up.

I will get pics when i come home this weekend, I don't really get what the problem is, im using the same driveshaft/transmission that was already in that coupe, all im really swapping is the motor. but what kind of problem would that cause?

if its the same transmission and ds then obviously thay should mate back up. clean up the ds with emery paper if it got surface rusted when out of the car. slap some oil on the end and slide that shaft in!

I'll be going home this weekend prob saturday, ill look into that and take pics, regardless since its all the same (only the engine is different, idk how this can happen.

i didnt move the diff, only half of the DS was removed, (the piece that attaches to the diff is what stayed on. it's ____ that much out from the transmission, its in there but not all the way

ok so rather than make new post i'd rather just bump this

the drive shaft thing was dealt with, while i was away my brother who came and visited, finished the swap and now im here for the weekend trying to get some more work done, i took the car out to get some gas, on the way back i revved it to about 4500 then this sound started happening, it sounds like its coming from the back of the engine,

any thoughts

Changed title.

Can't hear it too much, at work so can't turn it up loud. Could be exhaust leak or release bearing.

yeah unfortunately i lost the light of day so i can't trace it, im pretty sure now it's an exhaust leak, maybe from the egr, none of the auto parts stores near me had a plug the size of it, idk how, so we ended up putting a quarter on it and JB welded it on, im thinkin maybe that's it ill look into it tomorrow, and i gotta trace this damn power steering leak

thanks for looking

Yeah, JB weld wouldn't hold that.
