Hi everyone I'm just wrapping up my engine rebuild. Finally got it all back together.

Anyway the block is a '93 and the head is a '95. I have everything all bolted up just down to the distributor now (s13). The problem I'm having is it seems as if my distributor is bottoming out or something. I know people have done plenty of these swaps and I have never read anything about this. It only reaches to about a mm before the o-ring on the distributor.

When I initially put it in the timing marks are lined up. Now if I turn it then take it out the marks no longer match. So I'm guessing the gear is making contact with the cam gear. Any idea on what is going on?

Btw I'm using a cometic headgasket if it makes any difference.

Thanks.

Yeah I figured out what's up with it.
The front timing cover is a tad taller than the head so its not lining up right.
I'm guessing its from getting the head milled down.

Well I ended up trying what you suggested and the distributor went in. But now I can't turn it.

Wtf is the deal. I noticed to that the upper timing cover is only slightly taller than the head on the distributor side. The other side sits flush. What gives. I even took it off to see if something was stuck underneath but didn't see anything wrong.

if you had the head decked/resurfaced, you need to get the top timing cover decked, to match. this is your issue with the tallness.
