I know the fabric is different, but are the whole seats different? The dealer I went to didn't have a single S model, they had about 30 SL's though. THe sales guy said they were the same but I'd rather hear from someone who isn't trying to sell me something... It was actually hard to find a base model. Of the 2 dealers I went to, only one was willing to actually look for an S, the other one was adamant about me getting what was on their lot. I can't even find pix of the base interior, especially without the power windows.

In addition to the seat fabric differences, the driver's seat in the SL has height adjustment on the bottom cushion. The S does not have this.

IS the height adjustment something you would miss if it was gone?

maybe yes . . . maybe no . . . all personal preference.

I don't use mine at all, but am not sure if the seat is lower because it has one.

How tall are you? If you're under 5-10, you'll really appreciate the seat height adjustment.

My wife is 5'3" and she could fit in either the S or the SL but she prefered the SL. I'm 6'3" with long legs. No way I could make the S work for me. When we were shopping for a new vehicle last year, I had ruled out the Versa because I wasn't able to get the seat in a comfortable position. Then our sales person pointed out the pump and the Versa was back on the list. After the extended tests drives, it became #1 on the list.

That's good to know. I'm just under 6' and I seem to fit fine. I didn't adjust the seat in the SL I test-drove, mostly because I didn't know they went up&down. OF course I drove a Miata for over 15 years so the Versa seems to be cavernous compared to that. My wife really likes the seat-height adjustment in her car though.

The mouse fur in the S looked cheap to me which was my first consideration of the SL.I like the nice woven cloth and adjustable height ( i'm 6'3")Did not know what intelle key was until the salesman said"Here's the keys to your new car Mr Barnes, etc"very cool and easy to use

http://www.flickr.com/photos/d...29260/THe seats are shaped the same, it's the fabric. It actually feels nicer to me than the SL fabric, but it looks like it would be stained easier.http://www.flickr.com/photos/d...29260/S door panel (with MANUAL WINDOW CRANKS! I bet I'm the only one who ordered a Versa like that.http://www.flickr.com/photos/d...29260/ ... ...29260/I wish there had been some pix on the official website or in the promo booklet, the SL door panels really do look better but I didn't want any of the stuff that came with the SL. I wonder if the door panels are interchangable, especially with the manual windows...http://www.flickr.com/photos/d...29260/Dash. It is a little different than the SL, but I think it looks fine. I really wish NIssan had some pix of the different interiors, or at least had an S on hand when I ordered mine. The sales guy said the only difference was the power window switches... I don't think he ever saw an S either.

I was at an Ohio Nissan dealer this last week helping my Aunt test drive new rides and when we got there all they had was 15 Versa S models on the lot no SL's so when I parked my Sapphire Blue SL Sport out front I had 20 offers in under 35 mins. Everyone at that dealership had not had an SL yet on there lot.

Of course I told everyone that the car was not for sale.

Being the owner of both versions of the car, I can honestly say that I prefer the S seats to the SL's. I prefer the fabric on the S as well. I bought SL for myself because I wanted the Sport and Tech package. My wife drives the S and is perfectly happy with it.

In reply, I bought the Versa S and had the option of the woven fabric seats or the velvet like seats. I chose the velvet fabric for looks. I also upgraded to VOP (air and power) and just had an aftermarket Sunroof installed. Basically, the base S is also the base SL engine wise. A few option which I did not want and now I have exactly what I really wanted from the dealer. Here in Ottawa, the interior was totally up to the customer to choose not the sales person.

So where did you buy your V from . . . and were you happy with the salesperson? Just wondering after my "unhappiness".

Nice to see a few more Vs on the road here . . . mostly hatches to all you uppity people that [wrongly] thinkt hey are the better way to go
