I'm just kind of curious what a good reading level would be for the knock sensor.

I mean the badly written manual shows pics with up to like 47 somethings of knock, but it never tells you the unit of measure or what a "bad" level would be.

and since I don't know what a bad level of knock reading would be, it kind of makes seeing the number useless. I mean I guess 0 would be perfect, but I would imagine you have to be running very rich to keep it at 0 the whole time. But I don't know, that's why I'm asking..

Someone out there have the magic number?

No magic # here. But I'm guessing 0 would be next to impossible cause all of the noise generated by the engine during normal operation.

Maybe try driving the car normally with the boost set as low as possible...kinda establish a baseline that way. That's what I'm planning to do to establish my EGT baseline :) Or, dyno tune it and set a baseline where the A/F ratio is good and check out the knock sensor then to get a baseline reading. You might not have a dyno in Circleville though ;)

haha, yeah when I go to dyno I have to go to Columbus. Nothing in Circleville but overpricing muffler shops ;)

yeah I have driven it for the last 2 days. the highest reading I have gotten was like 60 something. At idle it is like 20-40. but when just giving it a bit of gas I get 0 knock from like idle up to about 3 grand. So it isn't impossible. I can't really tell how it does on boost yet cause I have some issue that is driving me nuts.. if I can't find my answer by searching I am gonna post a new thread..

By the way, anyone have similar numbers to those above as a benchmark?
