ahh this is the infromation i wanted to know so that mean i just take the motor out of the nissian frontier and all the gizmos and gadget and put them on the sentra only thing really special is mounts some body workand custom drive shaft.nametakennow wrote:No, the Frontier comes only with a longitudal VQ35DE, which is in no way related to your transverse QR25DE. The only way you could do this is with a very expensive custom transmission.
Bacause i have sevral rwd cars and im doing it more for the enginearing challengeNSR_S13 wrote:Just buy a RWD car.
no not the v6 motor the i4 and yes i under stand all of thease things i know it all hase to be custom fabricaited hence why im doing it im also it more of the challange i dont really care if the car ends up doing crazy amounts of hp this is more of a unique car not race carnametakennow wrote:No, you can't just pop in the motor from the Frontier. It's completely different. It's a V6 mounted in the opposite direction. You'd be lucky to fit it in period., much less have enough room to fit a radiator, transmission tunnel, etc. You'd also need a completely custom suspension.
yes yes this is more a fun thing to take slowly im not gonn rush it iwant to make shure all will fit yeah this car will be totally custom and yeah i have pleny of torches to do it withnametakennow wrote:After a little more research, I've found an 05/06 2.5l I4 model, but even if it is a QR25DE (which it may or may not be), it's longitudal, and it'd be a tight fit at best. You're welcome to try, but you'd better have a lot of money and/or fabrication experience and equipment if you plan on actually driving this car anytime soon.
edit:
On second glance, I can't be completely sure that engine is longitudal. If it is, then you just have the transmission to swap/deal with.

Yeah, he's cool and his swaps are pretty clean from what I have seen. And to the dude who thinks this is a simple "engineering" job to tackle: The engineers at Nissan designed the whole car around a FWD layout. You would literally have to custom fab everything. EVERYTHING. So that being said, you need about double what a Sentra is worth to even get started. A few guys on thevboard have talked about this and it would actually be cheaper and easier to convert it to AWD than RWD. So, in short: dont waste your time, pick a different project for your engineering challenge...sorry if that seems negative, but Im just keeping it real.VMPhil wrote:There is a guy in lousianna (i think he was moving) who is currently performing VQ swaps by the name of Travis. there are some track footage on street fire i think.
also no there is no way to convert a sentra to RWD unless you have very deep pockets.

thats because the X-trail has been mentioned in countless other threads across several Nissan Sentra related sites for people trying to convert to AWD and has yet to be feasable on a cost per result basis. basically no one is willing to plunk down the Money for the parts and custom fabbing. The X-trail would be the best way to go for an AWD set up but alas no one has even attempted.steve-o272 wrote:... you mean in the year this thread has been stagnant, nobody has considered meantioning the X-trail, AWD compact SUV, driven by a qr longitudinally mounted with IRS??? i think its the same width rear and front track, comes in 5 speed... so who here actually knows the nissan lineup
