My 240 is having and idle irregularity, so I looked up in the FAQ what to do (hey, that rhymes!). I got most of it, and I have a game plan... but can sombody tell me what a rotor is? Quote »From the 240sx.org FAQ"]Over past couple months started with the usual suspects; O2 sensor, plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, air filter...marginal improvement, but definitely still crappy. [/quote] Anybody? I asked around, but nobody could give me a sure- fire answer.

Thanks, -Doug

P.S. Is my computer messed up or did the signatures dissapear?

the rotor is inside your distributor, and it cuts (and opens) connections to the plug wires to supply (i.e. "distribute") the spark. http://www.howstuffworks.com has a nice anamation of this in their ignition write-up: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ignition-system.htm

PS- I'm not seein sigs either :( - in the stickey up above, it says the admins have turned off certain features to speed up nico for now... sigs was probably one of the things that got cut.

I'm getting a little confused reading this... is the rotor inside the cap, or are they two seperate pieces?

Edit: Is the rotor and the cap one piece, or will I have to buy them seperately is a better way to phrase that.

DIZZY, you will have to buy the distributor and cap separately. but there not that expensive. You can get them any any Pepboys or Autozone. Also as long as you know where the distributor is this should only take 5 min. to do. You will see the rotor when you take the two screws off the distributor, just pull firmly and make sure that you put the new one on in the exact same direction.
