Yello!

today our T33 got new tires (Michelin CrossClimate2 :naughty: ) and when talking to manager there heard a very strange information:
- does your car have lane assist?
- yes
- then you need to go to dealer to do alignment... it(lane assist) needs recalibration.

(have to admit - haven't yet gotten myself FSM for this T33, MY2023)
is it true?!
are there alternatives to dealer visit?

Nope, that's baloney. The only thing necessary after a standard wheel alignment is recalibrating the Steering Angle Sensor. The only front adjustment is toe, so no other systems are affected as long as the SAS reads correctly.

Are you saying re-calibrating the SAS is always necessary after front alignment,

or only if vehicle shows problems (code, not tracking straight with Lane Assist, ...) ?

Thanks

They're supposed to lock down the steering wheel dead straight when they do an alignment, but there's always room for error with that. It only takes about 3 degrees to make the ABS throw a code on most models, so safe is better than sorry.

@VStar650CL, so... let me rephrase and ask question right away :D
1) I bought a dingie - obd2 dongle which reads our mighty MY2023 T33. it shows steering wheel degrees. like this (when I got lucky :D ):
s1.png
and if I am just moving steering wheel - it also shows data:
s2.png
2) if we(workshop who will be doing alignment) manage to put a holder right on 0.00 - and then do alignment - we don't need to do steering wheel sensor calibration? do I understand correctly?

p.s. in this software I observed interesting differentiation - signals and data streams
s3.png
. if such separation exists in Consult - what is difference?

p.p.s. and one more thing - are there anywhere available (except FSM)- table with alignment data? I have this printout from dealership when we bought the car
Screenshot_2.png
- though I am not sure is this correct data or not?
and is alignment supposed to be done with weight in drivers seat?

The answer to question (2) is yes, as long as you're careful to lock it up at or near zero then a recal won't be needed. The answer to p.s. is that those are just filters to different data streams, the one we use most is input signals to leave out the output and data crap when we're looking for bad sensors. The answer to p.p.s. is that the printout came from a Hunter Hawkeye or other computerized Hunter machine, and those have an onboard database that's VIN-linked to the right specs. Those machines are officially Nissan-approved (the Hawkeye is Nissan-specified for dealers), so you can be quite sure it's right.
