those who didn't bought extended warranty - got it for free because of this recall.oldnissanguy wrote: ↑Tue Mar 24, 2026 4:08 amI don't remember ever buying an extended warranty for any vehicle, but I did for this one!
That depends which recall, whether you have/had a lit MIL, and whether they have a tech and a bay immediately available. The procedures and paperwork all take about an hour of actual shop time provided you only need an ECM reflash. If you've had a lit MIL then you may need a Throttle Body, that's another hour or so provided they have it in stock.
Only the earliest version of the recall had us dropping pans. The engineers evidently figured out that they could detect impending bottom end issues from the behavior of the oil pressure, so the recall installs diagnostic firmware which does that. It also fixes a firmware glitch which can cause the Throttle Body to overshoot during active testing and damage the gears which drive the butterfly. If there's a P2101 and/or P2119 already present (past or current), the TB gets replaced before the reflash. Afterward the oil temp is run up to 187F and the car is driven, if a P0524 pops up then the engine gets replaced.Q451990 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2026 9:42 amSo there's no oil pan drop for this recall? My Mother in Law took hers in for the recall, and it just mentioned an ECU flash, and no DTC P0524. I'm hoping there wasn't a drop since this particular dealership insists on using bulk 5W30 synthetic blend for everything.
What is the ECU flash doing? I've seen some posts on social media about it changing fuel mixtures to keep oil temperatures lower, but that seems a little far fetched to me.
