You don't need new rods. None of what you have to do even required you to remove the rods from the engine. You need rod bearings. While you're down there you might as well change the mains. Federal Mogul, Clevite, and probably some others make them; all of that (and the rest of what I say) is SEARCHable. You've got two options:
1 - quick and dirty, in the car: Pull the oil pan, remove the girdle, main caps and rod caps. Get a set of standard size bearings and replace the existing ones. This can be done without dropping the crank, again SEARCH.
2 - the correct way: Pull the engine, remove the crank. Get a set of oversized bearings. Have the crank turned down to match the bearings. Reassemble. The real way to do this is to take the bearings, put them in their appropriate places in the rod/block, torque the bottom end to spec without the crank and measure (via the micrometer you just rented) the inside diameter of the openings. Note these and bring them to the machine shop with your crank and the factory tolerances for bearing clearances. You can bring the whole engine to the machine shop and they'll do the measuring for you but if you're willing to do that you might as well rebuild the whole thing.
Which method you choose depends on your patience, your budget, the miles on your engine, how long its been knocking, etc. Your call.
