For complex problems, look to simple solutions… As fate would have it the noise was actually generated by the tire tread wear indicators. Apparently one of rear tires; which were rotated forward as part of the 30K service, was in the first stages of wearing down to the indicators. Because of their original location; in the rear, the noise was not as pronounced in the back as in front due to weight distribution and of course being closer to the driver. More bizarre, visually there is plenty of tread, so why the sensor is making noise now is a mystery. On a side note, for those who were/are having sporadic starting problems; present company included, the head service tech mentioned a known fuel pump issues which might result in a recall.
