I just completed 30K Schedule 1 MA1 service. After rotating tires I noticed more road noise than before. Maybe a coincidence, but I’m open for suggestions.

I wonder if they did a diagonal rotation

Give it a few more days. You may be trying to hear problems after the 30k service. The mind can play weird tricks on you.

No, front to back and back to front.

I was wondering that myself.

What about the door seals? Is it just tire noise? Although of course tire noise is something like 70 percent of the noise generated by a car at highway speed.

What's it like when you change road surface, e.g concrete to asphalt?

As it is an 07, it is my hope that the seals are in good shape. The noise is consistant regardless of surface. I would almost compare it to the loud sound tread sensors make. However tread depth is still within specs. I am going into the dealership Monday for an assessment.

3Mar08 Update

For complex problems, look to simple solutions… As fate would have it the noise was actually generated by the tire tread wear indicators. Apparently one of rear tires; which were rotated forward as part of the 30K service, was in the first stages of wearing down to the indicators. Because of their original location; in the rear, the noise was not as pronounced in the back as in front due to weight distribution and of course being closer to the driver. More bizarre, visually there is plenty of tread, so why the sensor is making noise now is a mystery. On a side note, for those who were/are having sporadic starting problems; present company included, the head service tech mentioned a known fuel pump issues which might result in a recall. FWIW, my wear tread sensors are still quiet after 52,500 miles, after rotating the tires every 7,500 miles. The tread is still decent, but I do plan on replacing the tires soon, anyway.
