1993 J30 242k miles

When i jack the car up and lower it back down to ground, the car will sit at normal ride height.

When I drive the car and hit a few bumps the front suspension totally collapses. Rides on bump stops. Its so low in the front the front tires cant be turned left and right all the way without major tire rubbing.

I guess the struts are blown, but Ive never seen a suspension that could collapse like that.

Why doe they sell the front struts with the spindle attached?

I planned on just getting a set from the junk yard. This J30 is very old and wasnt kept up by previous owner. Im just fixing it, to make it driveable for a friend

you can buy just the cartridges.Im talking up a deal in the q45 forum of all places on a possible group buy on J struts with Joe from IOS.All you guys in need go over there and show some interest. It may be our lucky break as there is NO aftermarket option for us.

Its the January specials thread.

I've always understood that springs and the surfaces that contact/support them on both ends determine ride height and that strut cartridges/shocks dampen/absorb the bouncing tendencies of the springs as they react to the dips and bumps in the road.

Broken/worn springs or spring mounts too as a result of driving too many miles with bad strut cartridges?

I'm sure that mine need replacing (gotta protect my springs too!), along with a few rubber items under there, but can you and Joe convince my wife that it's a MAGIC deal?

Secure packaging and free ground shipping?

Just how cut throat are we talking? I don't even 'know' that mine are bad, but I'm assuming they're not great at 228,000 miles...Though I just dropped like $700 on belts/starter/Darlington whatchathingit. Hm... when is the point of no return?

not sure about the pricing yet ..I just made a plea and he seemed interested.A group buy about the time my bonus check hits would be a godsend.I have the drive train in tip top condition. Now its suspension time !!!

Yeah...once there are some prices, I might be interested. My car is reaaally bouncy, and the front right wheel is tucked under the wheel well. I keep hoping someone will chime in and say something else besides OEM fits, heh.I remember some dude a while ago saying that stock 300zx suspension looked like it had the same mounts or something but was an inch or so shorter, but then he never followed up on that post.
