There is no way it can be a Canon if it is a D40. look at the top pictures and you can see the model on them. lolNikon is D40

ok...back to the headlights...you had to take them apart right? I think I remember reading that the only way to get them apart was to use a dremel or something similar, is that what you did? I have to admit I really like your blacked out look.

You are 100% correct. I DID have to take off the lights, cut out in the outline specified in the tutorial, and have to seal it back together.

The only thing I did differently was during the painting and sealant part.

The paint I used was the Krylon Glossy Black for a few coats and then I applied another few coats of clear coat to maximize the glossiness.

I used a strong Marine type sealant for the first night, covering all of the line cracks where I cut. Then, in the morning, I used electrical tape to cover over that already dried sealant to further cover any small holes that did not seal. After that process, I resealed it with a more general, yet same brand, sealant to become a third layer of protection against any moisture.

The result?

Maximum protection that makes this light just about stock looking.

They have been moisture-free since about a week after voting commenced for ROTQ.

Neither did I!That is why I waited such a logn time after that one tutorial for this came out. Finally one day I couldn't take it anymore that the original guy who did this, didn't post up results or any pictures afterword.I think it's just that guy, Kimber, and I who have done this so far.

Did you check if your Tacoma has the sealant thing because you might jut be able to stick them in the oven and seperate them?

It took me two days. about the whole afternoon adn some of the night to cut and paint them, to cut smooth all of the imperfections, and seal it. Thenthe next morning, I resealed it. and waited for that to dry and then reinstalled them onto my car.

I was just told to pre-heat an oven to 350 and then to turn it off and stick the lights in there. Then after 10 mins take em out and seperate them and paint away.
