this post is about an 1997 infiniti J30 with shifting from 1st to 2nd gear issues. i was on the Nissan mechanic forum and the 240sx guys were discussing this very issue with there cars and there unanimous conclusion was that there revolution sensors were bad, but they said that the revolution sensor has a back up sensor in case it goes out which is the speed sensor. On the 240sx the revolution sensor can be disconnected under the hood, and i know were the revolution sensor is on the J30 but i was wondering if i could disconnect it somewhere under the hood or is the only place is under the car. keep in mind i dont want to remove the sensor from the trans, i just want to disconnect power to it. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A turbine sensor is a different sensor than the one I believe they may have been discussing.

If that is correct, you really need to repair it.

thanks maxnix, I found the revolution sensor its under the car and its harness is clustered together with others, which include the Turbine Revolution Sensor, A/T Solenoids, and right beside it is the Inhibitor Switch. I disconnected the Revolution Sensor and i took the car for a spin and everything seems fine so far. the car didnt hesitate and i didnt get the usual hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gear. and acceleration was very smooth its been a long time since i felt my J move like that. i will keep it off for a couple of days and post back how it still drives. If the car keeps driving this well i will know it was the Revolution Sensor that was bad.
