I have been doing a little research, and have been reading of the rev up and non rev up motors. I have been looking for 350z's and i was just wondering if the rev up motor is worth the extra money, keep in mind i'm only an 18 year old and money is a factor.I would be getting either '03 or '04 if the rev up isn't worth it, and an '06 if it is.Of course the enthusiast or touring for the VLSD. Sorry for bad grammar/ wording.

It wouldn't be worth it. You will be happy with an 04 enth. That's what I have and I love it.

Also keep in mind that some rev-up motors have oil burning issues. But ultimately, it's HP vs. Torque. Non rev-up: 287hp @ 6200rpm, 276lb/ft. torque @ 4800 rpm. Rev-up 300hp @ 6600rpm, 260lb/ft. torque @ 4800rpm.

What happens when you ad a plenum spacer, or larger plenum to the non-rev up? more HP than the rev-up.... Non rev-up is full of win!

Many non-rev-ups had oil burning issues as well. A good friend of mine had a serious one.

As for output, its not going to be a big deal. The Rev-up has more HP and in the end that's generally what is most important. Problem is that the same year the Rev-up motor was added, the Z's weight went up as well.

But if the weight wasn't an issue, the rev-up would be the better motor from a power output perspective. Personally, I'd go for an 06+ just for the interior changes though.

Torque is what's gonna get you moving through 1st and 2nd from a standstill.

Oh yeah, he can find s2000's for a little less, i don't even know how he can find these deals! But anyways, i think the '03-'05 would be best.and like they said before, a non rev up motor with the intake plenum spacer or a new plenum, make just as much power as the rev up motor. future 350z owner!!! a guy is looking to buy my 240 on friday!

so the older 350Z's have the vq35de?and the newer ones have the HR motor? some are theft recovery, but most are clean title. This is pretty much what he does for a living. Buys them cheap and sells them for a profit.

03-06 has the vq35de (single intake) while 07-08 has the vq35hr (dual intake).
