Rev Limiter on a 93 240sx???

i was just checking out the 1993 240sx today and i was just taking the guys car for a spin. tried to redline it but it wouldnt let me pass 5500 rpm?

is there a rev limiter on a 1993 240sx?? is there anyway to get rid of that limit?? and does anyone konw where to get this fixed?? i wanan get the car ..but not sure how i can by pass this problem?

anyone on the fourm h ave the same thing? please share your experiences!

it sounds like you have an auto and it shifts at 5,500, there isn't much you can do about that. (yes, there are ways but thats not related to this subject)

best way will be to get an MSD 6AL, it has a rev limiter control.

hmmm.. 1st gear......... so its quite weird that its that LOW!

i dont konw..probaly not gonna get the car anymore since its probaly the transmission

thats very strange cause my 93 redlines at 6900rpm and the rev limiter is set at 7000rpms! dont know the problem

correct me if I'm wrong.. but the MSD 6AL limits "rpm" by cutting ignition but it ONLY does this BEFORE your stock rev limit. ie if your limiter is 7000, you can set the rev limit using the 6AL anywhere before 7000.

EDIT: which brings me to a question, the s14 redline is at 6400 or 6350, where is the rev limiter set at? should be at 6500 no?
