Depends on the turbo... although I think most T3/T4s out there are for an external wastegate.

t3/t4 is general, it can be internally or externally wastegated.depends on the actual setup.

if a turbo has an internal wastegate and you want an external wastegate for whatever reason [high psi, nitrous, ect...] its 100 percent ok to do so, just dont connect the turbo's wastegate vacuum connection to anything. use the external wastegate to control the boost.

another words the vacuum line from the manifold to the wastegate would go to the external w/g instead of the turbo itself

so I could just bypass the internal wastegate. Could I just get a different housing?

While it is technically possible to run an internal wastegate with a T3/T4 set-up(T3 turbines have internal gates available), it's highly unlikely you will find a T3/T4 internally gated. Especially since the T3 turbines that are internally gated are usually those that were used by a car manufacturer in an actual car.

You can get any T3/T4 internally or externally gated. If you get a mani made for the externally gated type, then get a turbo with no internal gate. Theoreticly the idea with the vacuum hose will work, but why bother. Besides, most turbines with internal gates are more expensive.

I was looking at a t3/t4 on ebay and it had an internal wastegate, I did'nt know that most do not. Another question is if I were to use the internal wastegate could I just plug off the rev hard manifold??

.....I think you are not ready to build your own turbo kit. Maybe you should start off by reading some books or something.

well I recommended "maximum boost" by corky bell but a guy that bought it said it was too advanced for him... there is a thread on it over at http://www.zilvia.net, maybe you could search it out. Or you could go to your library if you have a decent sized town near you. My library has tons of auto related books. Also, books a million has like 10 differen books on turbocharging on their shelves...so check some of those out. You might want to start at something like the "howstuffworks" website and work your way up.

Yes could block off the external wastegate port. When are you looking to put this turbo on your car?? Shoot me an email, I have some suggestions for you. [email protected]
