Resonator delete

So my car is slowly but surely starting to sound ghetto. There appears to be a hole in my resonator. When the resonator on my old Regal split, I just had the shop cut it out and replace it with a straight pipe. Just wanted to get some thoughts on doing the same to my 01 i30. Has anyone done this? It had little effect on the Regal and I imagine the same would be true of this car, but just thought I would get some feedback first. Appreciate it.

Well I had a taurus SHO. The mufflers I put on it made it sound like a Honda on super steroids. I put the biggest resonator the shop had on and it might it sound nice and deep.
